A question about fashion/General fashion stuff

I saw a couple more girls dressed like that in the pub at lunch, and managed to ask them how they could wear it in the cold weather and she said "it's fashionable".

I guess it would be alright in the summer, but in the winter :o

I follow fashion, but not the same kind of fashion that teenage girls do here.

I HATE the whole leggings and miniskirt thing. Ugh. Don't get me started on Uggs. :shifty: I guess I'm not into the trends that everyone else does.

I'm not gonna lie though, I do wear some 'trends'. but regardless of the trends, I wear what I like, and that's all that matters.

Maybe my style is more classic? I don't know....

Leggings on some girls are sexy, but for most of the time they are unsexy.

It can look really tacky though...at least the way they are worn here.

The worst is when girls wear leggings as pants.... :uhoh:

Too much left hanging...

Yes, ditto to everything you just said! I think we have similar taste in a lot of things, Annie. :P

ditto again, annie. also to what erin said earlier about the jeans and tshirts :nice:. i dont mind uggs, but leggings and long sweaters/shirts (which i think is whats being described...): UGH. i would never be caught dead in that. i would feel like i was walking around without pants on, because basically you ARE walking around without pants on. i always thought that my friends and i would never be caught dead wearing something as ridiculous and outlandishly trendy as that...and then my friend picked me up at grand central wearing it, ie, no pants. insanity.

but in america it seems that full-length leggings are more popular rather than the cut-off ones, at least in 2007. id look hideous in them so i dont bother. but i do follow some trends, like converse...

At least you girls have a wide choice in what you can wear.

It's either jeans, trousers or shorts for men (and whatever Scottish people wear).

Hehe yes it seems so!

I remember hearing this girl in class say 'of course Uggs are in style, I'm wearing them'. and she was wearing them with just leggings and a shirt.

I just wanted to say 'well did you think that it's a bad style? :P

Another style I have noticed is girls wearing jeans but with a long tee-shirt on top, so that the bottom of the shirt ends roughly half-way between the knee and the top of the leg.

I like that one- wear it alot. It depends on the type of shirt, yes, (there are bad examples) but it's very flattering on a less than perfect figure, and very practical.

Are you talking about tunics? Because I wear that style sometimes.

i only have one tunic, but i like it! :smug2:

Post a picture of a tunic.

Well tunics come in many styles. It's basically just a long top.

It can be like a simple tshirt.

Or a nicer top.

Or like a dress.

That's the badger.

In other fashion related news, I have purchased my first "branded" item of clothing for ages.

I think tunic tops started as a welcome backlash against all the Britney-inspired belly tops that were being forced on the globe.

But it's interesting how it's taken on such a life of it's own in the last few years.

Oooh and what would that be, Dave? :)

A "Maine-New England" thick coat. Was £80, got it for £30 in the sales.

And it's lovely and warm

That's great, Dave. :nice:

As long as it's nice and warm, that's what matters.

And Erin, I've never been into those belly tops. Ick. Even when I liked Britney. :P Tunics are nicer and chicer, in my opinion.

Belly Top - tops which show off your belly?

Alright for summer I would guess (but still doesn't beat going topless when it really gets hot)

They show muffin tops! :dead: Muffin tops are disgusting.

Yeah, tops that showed off you stomach at the worst, and still didn't meet the top of your pants at the best. For a few years there, the shops wouldn't sell anything else, even in the middle of the winter. I know. I looked.

It was miserable. Both the self-conciously wearing the stupid things, and seeing other women who R E A L L Y shouldn't wear them wandering around with their guts hanging out over their waistbands. And yes, even in winter.

THANK GOD that's done with.

I'm sure they will. Hopefully not until I'm old enough that it doesn't matter any more.

Even if they did, I still wouldn't wear them, lol.

But there are still girls here who wear small tops that show off their gut/belly. :disappointed: It's pretty trashy.
