:sneaky: Time to revive my account on theonering.net and ringbearer.org (my home long before coldplaying :P)

Same here. Well... I was more of a Barlimans regular... and warofthering.net Great places. Great people. I wish music fans were more like that sometimes...

Then again, music fans don't get into giant arguments about whether elves wore boots or shoes either...

I have to admit, I was proud of that one.:)

I see Nadia's so excited she's posted it on Facebook already!! I can't wait to see it. The only movie I'm looking forward to more is the X-FIles sequel. It's going to be a good year for movies.

Now all we need is one of the new Coldplay songs on one of the soundtracks, and life will be perfect.

Oh yes, I agree - the Tolkien/LOTR forums were really some of the best. Sadly, active membership seems to have waned on RB and TORn in the past few years. I expect a revival soon. :) (Erin, what was your username way back then...? Maybe we crossed paths. :nice:)

...and *ahem* shoes.

lol, noticed that did ya? :P I couldn't resist! Especially considering that on Nov 20th, 2006 I posted an article on Facebook saying how PJ and team had definitely backed out of the project and that there was little to NO way that they'd ever have any hand in making The Hobbit. Ha! (btw Tracie, George is so cute! ;) <-- facebooker insider knowledge! :sneaky:)

I was always just Mo. Creative, eh? Went back to Barliman's last night and the place was hopping. I haven't had that much trouble keeping up since RotK came out. :shocked2:

And shoes in the books for good reason, but boots work better in movies. (Especially when the actor is walking through snow and isn't actually an elf.)

As for that 2006 announcement, it was for real. It looks like MGM realising the bags of money available since they had some of the rights, got really fed up with that announcement and played the levelheaded peacemaker between New Line and PJ. Apparently, the deal would never have happened without them. (Can't believe I just complimented a studio...)

YA-hooooo!!! The Hobbit was my favorite book, along with the Chronicles Of Narnia as a kid. (I want a new Narnia movie too!!!) THis is such great news. Thanks for posting, Mo!:D:D:D

Prince Caspian is coming out May 16th. I think the Voyage of the Dawn Treader is currently in preproduction already.

And did any of the human worms get any work on the film too??

Good news, the studios finally made a deal.

What does this deal involve? Do they have a director yet?

No directors have been decided. It's being split into two movies (not sure how that's going to work) and PJ doesn't have time to direct both of them himself, but there's speculation that he may direct the second if it works into his schedule (he's got a couple of other big projects on the go too.) Sam Raimi's name also comes up a lot.

What it does mean for sure is that PJ and his wife Fran Walsh will write the screenplay again, and that all the same people will be working on it in New Zealand, so it should have the same look and feel.

www.theonering.net is traditionally the best place to get all the little details as they come in.

The Hobbit to begin filming in February next year

Filming on The Hobbit is set to begin in February after it was finally given the go-ahead by film studio bosses.

Warner Bros also announced that Peter Jackson, who directed the Oscar-winning Lord of the Rings trilogy, would helm the two-part prequel.

The films, based on JRR Tolkien's book, had been delayed for months due to MGM Studios' - which owns half the project - ongoing financial woes.

No release dates for the movies have been given.

According to Simon Pegg, Martin Freeman is still trying to figure out how to sign on to play Bilbo while working around the Sherlock filming schedule. I think he'd make a great Bilbo- he's the right age, and he's very hobbity:

Plus he moments where he sure could pass for a young Ian Holm...

currently, the possible lineup for The Hobbit are Martin Freeman, David Tennant & James Nesbitt. tho for the latter 2, it's not known what roles they are in negotiations for yet. :D
