19-year-old soul star Adele will pick up the Critics' Choice gong at Wednesday's ceremony, and will also perform Coldplay's 'God Put A Smile On Your Face' with Mark Ronson.

 

The ceremony, which will be hosted by Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne, airs on ITV1 at 8pm on Wednesday. "It'll be so good if Amy Winehouse comes and does 'Valerie' with him too," Adele [pictured] told the Daily Star. "I loved her Grammy performance. I was thinking how nerve-wracking that must have been for her doing it via satellite. I didn't think she had a lot to prove but some people did.

 

"She was incredible. She looks a lot better now too now she's put on weight. I've met her a couple of times and think she's lovely. I'm quite tall but she's so tiny. It's been a big year for her, so it would put everyone in their place if she joins us at the BRITs."

SOUL sensation Adele is planning to celebrate the first-ever Critics Choice Award at Wednesday’s BRITs with the mother of all knees-ups.

 

The Londoner with the sensational voice, which has put her at the top of the album charts with 19, has no intentions of turning her back on her down-to-earth roots. And I wholeheartedly support her.

 

She said: “I’m planning on getting very drunk. At the moment my tipple is JD and Coke but it is rotting my teeth. You know when you’re really drunk and forget to brush your teeth, then you wake up and all your teeth are disgusting?”

Yes lady, we’ve all experienced furry morning-after mouth. But humble Adele won’t be ditching her favourite tipple for a silly size-zero booze plan. She added: “I’ll probably be on the champagne at the BRITs.”

 

Totally my kinda gal. Speaking to me on Valentine’s Day, Adele admitted she hadn’t been home to check if she’d had any cards but is not on the look-out for a showbiz boyfriend now she’s a bona fide pop star. She said: “I like making new friends but I’ve never been open to chatting to anyone randomly. If I get with a boy it’s always a friend of a friend. I’m single and I always say I am even if I’m not.”

 

The main man in 19-year-old Adele’s life at the moment is pal Mark Ronson, with whom she is performing with at the BRITs. Mark, 32, revealed earlier this week that Adele would be singing Coldplay’s God Put A Smile On Your Face.

 

Adele chuckled: “I keep getting told everything’s a secret. The BRITs people told me: ‘Don’t say anything,’ but it’s Mark’s performance so if he let that out then it’s fine. He decided to do that song. I didn’t want to boss him around. It’ll be so good if Amy Winehouse comes and does Valerie with him too. I loved her Grammy performance. I’m having fun with it and taking each day at a time or my head might get like a mushy pea.” But she added: “I don’t want to make a typical boring speech either.”

 

Somehow I don’t think Adele will ever get boring.

You haven't heard of Adele because she's brand new. She's only 19, her album just came out, she's riding the whole Amy Winehouse retro soul wave, and she has her record company pulling overtime promoting her. I even saw her video on Muchmoremusic the other day- now that is record company muscle.

 

That said, she has an amazing voice, and though I personally don't care for her original songs, I really don't mind them- she sounds THAT good. She's actually worth checking out: http://www.myspace.com/adelelondon
