I hate to say this but I'm a little worried about LP4. Anyone else? Here's why...

 

A Rush of Blood to the Head in my mind was the greatest thing I'd ever heard and the songs they wrote while on that tour were even better...Ladder to the Sun, Sweet Marianne, does it get any better?!? I was so excited for X & Y because I thought that was the direction they were going in. But, alas, they didn't. They scrapped all those brilliant songs and started over, and I found it disappointing. Sure, there are a few goodies on their last album like Fix You, Talk, and 'Til Kingdom Come, but apart from that...not so good. So X & Y has left a slight bitter taste in my mouth and it's hard to get rid of. And to be honest I can't stand those song synapses these magazines do because it gives me no bearing about a song whatsoever. They did the same thing for X & Y, it got me excited, and then I heard it and I thought, oh, that's what that was supposed to be describing, how the hell was I supposed to know that! So I'm ignoring those for the time being.

 

But now for the positive spin to my post :) They say LP4 sounds nothing like what they've done before. Well, imo, that's a fantastic thing. I would love for them to go back to making songs like they did for AROBTTH and Parachutes, but X & Y proved that they could never go back. So now it's time to see what Coldplay are really made of, so I'm a little worried...but foolishly hopeful, as always.

 

Like all of you I will be in line at midnight the day of the release (It'd be faster to just download it on iTunes but hey, that's not as fun!) and so unbelievably excited to be on the verge of listening to a new Coldplay album, I mean, how often do you get to do that?!? But this time I'm going to be a little more cautious as a I rip off the plastic and be hoping it will be a Coldplay album I'll be proud to blast from my car speakers on the way home.

 

What are your thoughts?

Yeh i agree with you even though I liked XY but its not up to Coldplays standard really but it was good and i think it was rushed or summat cause they scrapped everything before the release date(hope they dont do that on this one)but album loooks as if theyve taken their time on this one otherwise it would have been out already:angry::laugh3: but this a direction all bands should go, they cant keep making same music as they will never be called legends or summat. I wanna go in a line in mid-night aswell even though its way past mt bed time but hey who cares, ive orderd it on the web. I also want to give the album to a great freind of mine as a present so hopeully he likes it.:)

one good thing is that all the 3 albums are quite different, besides they've taken their time, they haven't set any realease date so I hope we get a new arobtth

Since U2 had such a good turn-around with Brian Eno, I'm feeling Coldplay will too - it just makes sense. It would be difficult to imagine it any other way, really...:sunny:

and since its a completely different style i think its hard to predict this album to be that great until you hear it. even though it will be that great

Don't be worried, they don't have any bad song.

Even b-sides are almost better than albums....

 

The only big change is that I think there will be more hip-hop beats.

But that would be a total new style!

They can even make from some hardcore music realy good songs.

And I hate hardcore.

 

So, why be worried? Everyone is telling,, X&Y is bad.

BUT, that is the best sold album from all three!

So, the people who that says, have probably X&Y...

So I think that this will be a big hit, and i'm sure that there will be a LP5.

And I also think that they make a DVD after next tour.

 

There is one thing i'm worried about.

That will be how famous this album is going to be.

 

I'm affraid that people is going forget the other ones, so they can't play them anymore live... They have to earn money ofcourse for next projects.

Song: '42' will be number 1 hit over the whole world, i'm sure!

i also feel a little worried with LP4. just scared if the record is worse than 3 previous albums.

He made U2 the great Joshua Tree and Actung baby, the albums that always get called masterpeices and appear in top albums ever awards.

 

Coldplay have an album in there already A Rush of blood to the head, but they need a total undeniable classic like Urban Hymns or The Stone Roses.

 

And I have a feeling they will definatly deliver!

I agree with you, Coldplay does have very strong B-sides!:D

 

But I don't think you can take for granted that LP4 will sound anything like "Homecoming", after all, Chris made the song with Kanye, so the rest of the band had nothing to do with it, but they have pretty much to do with this new album...;)

 

And about X&Y...

How many copies and how much success they've gained does unfortunately not say anything about the quality of the music.
