I'm abit dubious about this 9 track album.

to me, that's not an album.

when was the last time that an album had less than 10 tracks?

(not including metallica, who feel the need to play 7 40minute solo's in each of their songs)

It's not an album.

Even darius danesh's first single had 6 tracks on it.

(note: I didn't buy it, I saw it in the shop and made a mental note to grow a pony tail like his)

:)

Tokyo Police Club's "A Lesson In Crime"

17 minutes of 7 track musical genius

There was a little band that had a low profile album come out not too long ago. Radiohead's In Rainbows only had 10 songs. Ever hear of it?

"But you have to understand that we are DIE HARD Coldplay fans. When you feel so passionate about something and you're given little tidbits like the Prospekt entries, it can mean the world to a fan. this is the ONLY place we have to chat with other dyed in the wool Coldplay fans. I would whole hearted disagree about it being "bitching", and chalk it up to mere impatience. "

Not Everyone responds the same way. On the spectrum of things, you are one of the more mellow people in regards to the whole update situation. Thus, while you may not be "bitching" in your comments, there are others whose comments can only be described that way. (in my mind at least...)

I guess my central point is that if Coldplay wanted to piss off their fans, it would be easier to justy not bother with updates at all.

Just a thought, perhaps the reason more bands don't adopt this update strategy, is precisely because they don't want to go to the extra work only to be exposed to extra critisism...

There's another website that shows the same tracklisting. It's from an spanish music producer and journalist (Julian Ruiz), who has interviewed Chris Martin several times and knows him well... so maybe the 9 tracks are right.

The post date is Wed 19 Mar, 2008... more than a week before bol.com. You can read it here: http://www.plasticosydecibelios.es/v2/detalle.php?p_id=690 (it's in spanish). It also talks about "42" and "Yes" as the first single, and the influence of Gwyneth in the name of the album (she speaks spanish fluently).

WE KNOW THAT THERE ARE 9 TRACKS! PROSPEKT SAID THAT! SO DON'T DOUBT THAT!

While I agree with you 100% about the fact that Coldplay has gone above and beyond what other bands would do, in regards to the blog entries. It's an ingenious idea that other bands SHOULD adopt. It gives a great insight albeit through a 'behind the scenes' type look at the whole process, and makes for a better connection between us and the fellas.

But I will give you that we do need a LITTLE bit of perspective. We aren't in the studio, we don't know what's going on. Whenever I start to feel really really impatient, I think of that Bono quote that Chris mentions often, about bands breaking up over tracklisting.

i completelyyy agree.

i feel like all of those comments by 'fakfak' were directed at my tirade last night so in my own defense i would just like to say i DO appreciate coldplay giving us updates... im happy they arent keeping us completely in the dark. however most people here, like myself, have been following the status of this album FOR OVER A YEAR. we've had rumored release dates been pushed back from october '07 to now june '08. we've waited sooo long for this album that i think its only normal to get impatient once and awhile. its not bitching its just being excited to the point where we cant wait any longer...

My comments were only partly directed at you, though it was never really my intent to single out or offend anyone. If I offended you, I apologize.:embarassed:

I was just responding to what I saw as an increasingly negative trend here on these boards, brought on by what I see as an attempt to be as forthcoming with information as possible by the band.

I find the title of this thread misleading

i completelyyy agree.

That's why I love Coldplay so much! They care SOOOO much about their fans and they take the extra steps with us.

Some of us have been waiting since the end of 2005, when we heard rumblings that Chris and the fellas had some new ideas for the next album. I remember reading the questions to Debs on the old site about when she thought the next album would be out, and I remember thinking "geez!! the new one JUST came out, the next album is YEEEEARS away!" and then the comment from Chris about "you won't be seeing us for a while." the last several years have flown by!

"I find the title of this thread misleading"

How so?

It is discusses exactly what the title states...

"That's why I love Coldplay so much! They care SOOOO much about their fans and they take the extra steps with us"

Which is why I guess I get so worked up over this. Considering the band do care enough to take extra steps, it seems somewhat tacky to complain that they're not doing enough...

You're absolutely right! They're far from wanting us to be pissed off. I can't imagine how hard that would be to have to release the best album anyone's ever heard while trying to keep a deadline, please all the fans and keep them up to date, and put things together in a timely manner! I know once we get the next Prospekt update about everything we've been waiting to know, all of this "bitching" "impatience" "cynicism" and all around complaining will disappear. I guess we all do need to just chill out and let the info. come as it will

I think its because "Tracklisting Revealed" as a thread title implies that it has been officially revealed by the band, which it hasn't. We have seen several other versions of the tracklisting pop up on different sites, and those were only guesses as to what the song order would actually be. This one has merely taken the songs that RS analysed in that article in february and posted these 9 songs in the exact order that RS analysed them in. So nothing has in fact been revealed at all.

I see...

(don't mind me, I'm a Little Slow.)

for the first time i am exited about tomorrow being a monday and the beginning of a new week!

i want it to be true but i dont know if i can believe it

9 songs of quality greatly surpasses 14 songs of mediocrity. I'm dying of impatience.:sneaky:

that didn't make any sense at all considering I said "I couldn't think of an album that had less that 10 songs" ;)
