Coldplay haven't done this in the past have they, with the initial release anyway. They might release loads of 'tour editions' for different countries with b-sides etc and charge the earth for it in a few months time.

The final title and tracklisting for X and Y were not "officially" released until mid april 2005, so as long as we get something in the next couple weeks, it's still in line with the last release. I really think they want this new release to be "low key" and avoid the onslaught of hype that preceded the release of X and Y. We have a release date, so just try to relax a bit and let it come when it comes.

 

I know it's hard, but we've got to wait regardless, so we might as well not give ourselves heart attacks, otherwise we'll never make it to the release date...;)

I couldn't disagree with you more about them wanting to make this "low key". 1st: I don't think the head of EMI or the shareholders would want ANY cd to not be publicized. 2nd: If that is true, then why are they going onto the Today show (which they've never done before), and play a set?

I meant low key as in more subtle than the hype preceding previous releases, not a total lack of any publicity.

 

Keep in mind that what EMI wants, may not be what Coldplay wants, and though EMI would ordinarily win out in such situations, Coldplay likely have more leeway than virtually any other artist due to their status as one of the most lucrative bands on the EMI roster. (one of the few EMI uk artists to have any notable degree of success in the crucial American market)

 

Also, If I'm not mistaken (I could very well be), the Today show gig is after the album is released, so can hardly be counted as promotional hype. Compare this one television gig to the large club tours of both the U.S. and Europe preceding the release of X&Y...

Let's see... they left out leftrightleftrightleft, Famous Old Painters, Glass of Water, Poppy Fields, Rainy Day, Chinese Sleep Chant, and Song for the Escapist (not including Prospekts March because it was never a song). They also might have changed one of the titles to Viva La Vida. I'm betting they changed Famous Old Painters to Viva La Vida because of all the hard work Marcus did to get that band in, in Brooklyn.

 

Also, looks like they threw in one more song for us! Now I'm a little confused about the title. Why didn't they put Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends at the top? Maybe not enough room on the page.
