Feeling under the weather

When you have a cold, or cough or other minor illness do you moan or do you silently suffer? :idea2:

I ask as I live in a house of moaners and it drives me insane! I hate people who will moan and whine about having these stupidly small ailments. Even worse is when they'll make stupid little noises, really obvious coughs or will grimace when they swallow things and they'll do it until you say something. :bomb: I'm not an unsympathetic person, but I hate feeling like it's forced on me and to be honest someone with a cold or similar doesn't really need it.

Seriously just shut up, take an aspirin, get on with your life and be thankful that it's only a sniffle. :dozey:

What do you guys think? Are you a moaner or like me are you a moody cow that can't abide it? :P

If it's a minor illness then I put a brave face on it and don't grumble.

ugh, i COMPLETELY agree. i've got friends who perpetually say they're sick and it bothers the crap out of me. either shut up and deal or admit that you're not really sick and are looking for attention or an excuse to not do anything. and i'm not an unsympathetic person either: if someone's really sick and bedridden or vomiting or whatever i feel terrible for them, but all this whining about getting colds bothers the crap out of me. i think a lot of times, most of the cold is mental anyway. if you tell yourself it's not that bad and it's only a sniffle, you feel better.

I agree completely, a lot of it is psychological. If you moan and whimper and go on about it then you're always gunna be thinking about it.

A good example is a friend of mine who is a severe hypochondriac, this rant doesn't apply to him because he really can't help it, but he's always worried there's something wrong with him, all the time. He has Crones disease and the treatment he receives for it lowers his immune system which is what triggered the hypochondria. But if something is going around it scares him to death, mumps was going around his university and he stayed off for weeks and weeks and he was convinced he had it.

But he looks up the symptoms of everything and because he knows them all he convinces himself that he has these symptoms and it's all psychological, completely, he's never once been right. It's horrible for him, he admits himself that constantly being worried, constantly looking up symptoms and constantly "feeling" sick is no way to live.

Sometimes I do moan... but just when I really feel sick.. now I have a little cold but it's not a big deal so I just do the regular stuff

i am more of a moany type of person ... but i keep my mouth shut most of the time.

Where is Rolle? She would turn this thread pervy fast!

  • Author

Haha, why don't you give it a go Rick ;)

Rolle is a moaner for sure.

(get the perv ball rolling)

Awww Mimi! I AM SICK! I'm so congested! I HATE IT! :bigcry:

Usually when I'm sick I just kinda go on with it and not complain even if I have a temperature....

  • Author

Aww, I hope you feel better :(

It's only when people continue to moan and moan for days that it annoys me.

oh I usually just say "I'm sick" when they are looking at me weird.. :laugh3::embarassed:

  • Author

Hehe, why would they be looking at you weird?

well it's because they are wondering what's wrong with me as my eyes get watery.. and laughing so they are wondering what's funny or why I have semi tears on my eyes
