Former Liberty X star Michelle Heaton is covering Coldplay’s single Talk to release as her debut solo single.

 

The pop singer was persuaded to tackle the Chris Martin-penned tune, which went Top 10 in 2005, by Boyzone's Keith Duffy.

 

All money raised from sales will go to charity Irish Autism Action, of which Duffy is an ambassador.

 

The celebrities have both been working together recently on the judging panel of the Irish version of The X Factor, called You’re A Star.

 

Michelle told Mirror.co.uk: "I'm very nervous as I have never sung solo. I've only ever recorded with the rest of Liberty X. But Keith has a lot of faith in me and I'm not going to let him down.

 

"I'll be releasing the song in aid of Irish Autism Action which is a cause close to Keith's heart."

 

After her time on RTE1's You're A Star Michelle said she wanted to give something back to Ireland.

 

A show insider added: "Michelle has been here for the last seven months and she has had such a great time. So she wanted to do something positive for a charity here. Keith is a great ambassador for IAA... so he's thrilled Michelle is going to do a single for them."

 

Michelle is going to be recording in the next few weeks with a view to releasing the track as soon as possible.

 

Boyzone singer Keith, whose daughter Mia is autistic, added: "It's not a song that you would cover unless it was for charity as it is very new. But the lyrics lend themselves really well to highlighting the ongoing problems and the struggles that families with autistic kids face."

I can see covering the song once at concert on a lark. But to record it and release it as a single, as if it's your own song. That's just lazy and unprofessional!!!

Why and how did Coldplay come to allow this to happen. I guess we don't know the ins and outs of their record deal.

 

I don't really like "talk" that much now anyway (I prefer the leaked early version better if anything) but I would still hate to think some shit singer was releasing it as a single.
