10 Reasons To Avoid The New Coldplay CD

(antiMusic) A week after being named the band most likely to put you to sleep, Coldplay revealed some new details about their forthcoming CD 'Ambien CP.' Wait, that was the code name for the project, it's really going to be called 'Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends'. We're not making that up.

Frontman Chris "Ricky" Martin spoke with Billboard about the effort, "We're still obsessed with making songs that can be sung to the rafters. We just wanted to present them differently." The CD title had a thoughtful back story* until they added the "or Death and All His Friends," which we're not sure about the loca reason for that addition. Maybe he likes the conflicting statements. Like Apple to Orange?

Nevertheless, Martin and those other guys brought on Markus Dravs and Brian Eno to produce the ten track album which hits stores on June 17th. But there is hope for some kind of extras CD or a 'make our fans buy this again' special addition, as the band reportedly recorded more song then they can use. Some of those tracks are supposedly titled "Postcards From Far Away," "Rainy Day" and "Now My Feet Won't Touch The Ground." Here are the tracks that did make the final cut or as we like to say 10 Reasons To Avoid The New Coldplay CD:

Life In Technicolor

Cemeteries Of London

Lost!

42

Lovers In Japan/Reign Of Love

Yes

Viva La Vida

Violet Hill

Strawberry Swing

Death And All His Friends

*Martin told Rolling Stone that the album title was inspired by a painting by Mexican artist Frida Khalo. Viva la Vida translates to the rather redundant statement "long live life". However, when taken in the context of Khalo's battle with polio, a broken spine and chronic pain, the words do convey a stronger message and that connected with Martin. "She went through a lot of sh*t, of course, and then she started a big painting in her house that said 'Viva la Vida,'" says Martin. "I just loved the boldness of it."

Forget about the album, we're waiting for Martin and his bride to have another child so we can suggest that they name it "Fig Newton Martin". We shouldn't give him any ideas. Sorry Fig, you can blame us.

i'm definately not gonna avoid it :D

that's the most %&*^&!%^$%##^$#^ statement i ever read... :furious3:

This will be their best, I love A Rush of Blood, its epic! but this one seems to have been built up from the ground up as an almost conceptual album about life and death, to me its life affirming. Coldplay's very own Urban Hymn's

I think the same. They needed to break the formula to make an outstanding album and it seems they have tried it so if it dosent work out I think this will be the a shame and Coldplay will go down the global status.

Bah but that aint going to happen:P

This albums gonna be flippin amazing!!!!

New Coldplay is on it's way... sounds like TV

(...)

I'm not sure I've ever seen a track listing that could be mistaken so easily for a page out of a TV Guide. Off the top of my head, here's how I see it panning out...

Life In Technicolor: (Disney Channel) A lighthearted, tween comedy starring some 10 or 11 year-old generation-y'er named Skyler and his best friend robot who can text message and has a built in PSP.

Cemeteries of London: (CBS) A mystery/drama about an orphaned, twenty-something, British girl who is mentally attuned to the paranormal and searches said cemeteries to discover how her parents died.

Lost!: (ABC Family) A spin-off of Lost that is basically the same thing but it stars high schoolers.

42: (1.) (Comedy Central) Kind of like 24 on FOX, except it stars Dave Attell and he has 42 hours to figure out what happened during the other 6 that he can't remember because of his drinking binge; or (2.) (HBO) a miniseries on the life and times of Jackie Robinson and his color barrier-breaking entrance into the MLB.

Lovers in Japan/Reign of Love: (VH1) A block marathon of the two hottest new Asian-Invasion reality shows:

Lovers in Japan: Six sexually-adventurous Americans are placed in a post-modern party mansion located in Tokyo, Japan. During the day, they swap shares on the Tokyo Stock Market, but come nighttime, they swap spit as they become the victims of their own raging libidos.

Reign of Love: Twenty-five sexy, single, Asian-American women compete for the affections and courtship of the recently heart broken and deposed Emperor of Japan as he tries to regain his livelihood in the always wild and rowdy Orange County, California. Which one of the almost beautiful and slightly soiled new suitors can fill his throne as his new "Queen"?

Yes: (ABC) This comedy stars some talk, dark and handsome guy that nobody has heard of but charms all the ladies, and his struggles with the physical inability to say the word "no". Hilarity ensues...for five episodes until they completely run out of plot ideas.

Viva La Vida: (MTV) This reality show chooses one applicant each week to "viva la vida" (live the life) of their favorite Spanish-speaking recording artists and spend the day with them. Show is canceled the overwhelming majority of applicants choose Shakira, while the remaining submit eerily flamboyant videos dedicating their love to Ricky Martin. Reruns of the show will play four times a day on MTV2 and late nights on MTV.

Violet Hill: (The CW) A coming-of-age melodrama that focuses on the angst and drama of a small group of perpetually youthful teenagers that attend a small suburban high school in the town of Violet Hill.

Strawberry Swing: (1.) (Oxygen) In this made-for-TV-movie, a rigid business women working on Wall Street goes through a breakdown when her marriage falls apart. She returns to her laid-back country home town to do some self healing where finds vision and virtue while spending time on her old porch swing, which coincidentally is full of nostalgia and the answers she needs to move on. (2.) (ESPN) A miniseries chronicling the ups, down, home runs, and errors of famed baseball player and drug-user, Darryl Strawberry.

Death and All His Friends: (1.) (FX) A breakthrough, new crime drama starring somebody you'd never expect to star in a breakthrough, new crime drama. (2.) (FOX) A brilliant, new animated comedy from Seth McFarlane starring the grim reaper named Death, from his popular show Family Guy. Despite it's brilliance, show is canceled after two and one half seasons.

Sounds about right to me. If you've got your own TV show takes on Coldplay's track list, post away in the Comments Section. Hopefully the lyrical content of the album won't reflect the song titles' TV show potential. Could the boys in Coldplay be the new Awesom-O?

Anyway, the album is due out June 16 or 17th and they're going to try and get a song or two out before then.

:laugh3::laugh3::laugh3::laugh3::laugh3::laugh3:I love it:P:D:D

I don't understand this whole double track malarky.

I don't know why they've done it?

why couldn't they just have it be a seperate track?

does anybody have any idea why Reign of Love has been merged with Lovers in Japan?

Believe me, I'm sure we'll all understand when we hear the album, no need to protest what we might be praising as brilliant a couple months from now.

i think that list is bullshit not even funny.

What's with the moaning? :stunned:

PARACHUTES WAS TEN TRACKS. GET OVER IT.

but uh yeahhhhhhhhh!

Yes do please get over it! :dozey:

I think the impatience is making some people light-headed...we're all way too worried about the details. RELAX!!

I think 10 songs only arent too much...i hate when i have to buy a CD and later a lot of b-sides, but well at least lets hope this album to be the best .
