The Violet Hill Vigil...

Featured Replies

Lucky Europeans!! Most of you get to hear it at a reasonable hour. But for the rest of us, who's going to stay up all night to hear the song? For me it'll be 7:15 in the morning, but I've decided to put the coffee on and wait. Anyone else??:D

Lunchtime :D

Yay living in the UK.

Although I would stay up all night if I wasn't in the UK, I mean, its Coldplay!!

eh, well i'm going to TRY to sleep because i do have classes that day, but i don't think i'm going to be very successful. i also think that if i lived alone i would try to do an all nighter vigil with you, but my roommate might get a bit peeved even though she sleeps like a rock. besides, i think she'd definitely think i've gone insane. which i have, but there's no need for the people here to know that.

but i WILL be rising out of bed at 6:15, will be ready for the day by 7, and will be listening to violet hill by 7:15!!

Wow! Not even I'VE stayed up that long before, goodness! Are you sure you can pull it off, Tracie? :laugh1:

if i didn't have school AND a tennis match tomorrow i'd consider it. but i'm definately listening to it before school, idc if i'm late.

i'll download it at some point tommorow. i'm not really worrying about when i hear it in the day as long as its good and i do hear it.

THanks to playing in a band til sometimes 3am on weekends, and having noisy neighbours, I'm used to going to bed around 5, so it's only an extra 2 hours, and I have nowhere to be tomorrow, so I can manage.:)

Well it's available at 5:15am where I am (I'm English but live in the US). If I didn't have work to go to then I'd consider staying up all night (my college days gave me a lot of practice) but I'll just set my alarm and try to sleep.

It would be fun to stay up and do an all nighter. I'm a f**king pro at that. Too many to count from being at MSU. BUT I think sleeping would be better. Then my mind can rest easier. And Ill be up to download it and wake up the household with it. :)

I'll be around here though maybe until midnight Tracie!

"hoping" is the operative word in the poll option i selected. i'm not expecting much luck. my usual ticket to sleep is AROBTTH, but tonight that'll just make me MORE excited!

not that i want this to be any later, but if it was just two weeks later, i would TOTALLY pull an all-nighter for this, no question.

EDIT: 3,000th post! :P

It will be available around 7:15 my time, but I'm not getting up that early just to do that, lol. I will do it when I wake up tomorrow probably around 10-11. I MIGHT set my alarm, download, listen and go back to sleep, but I doubt it.

for once a good reason for living in France :P

You should count yourself lucky for living in France!

Universal health care etc.

hmm, anyone else think there will be severe site traffic on the new coldplay.com tomorrow as we all try to download it RIGHT at the time it's available? i think that might hinder things a bit...

I'm afraid of that too.. so it'd be great if anyone would record it from the radio just in case the site gets too much traffic

oh and well.. I'll wake up so early tomorrow to listen to the song

^^YES! i thought the same exact thing and it makes me nervous. i have about ten minutes to download, listen, and leave for school. it's available at 7:15 and school starts at 7:30...luckily i live close.

I'm going to record it from XFM just to be on the safe side so we can get it from here if the Coldplay.com traffic's too high. I'm sure others will too.

:stunned: I didnt think of that ! severe traffic ! hope I'll be able to get it !

oh well, I'm sure there'll be many leaks here.

Oooh, scary!

Although if Radiohead can handle millions of people downloading an entire album at exactly the same time, I'm sure Coldplay can pull it off with just one track :D *crosses fingers*

Radiohead did it in a very special and very, VERY costly way. if i wasn't so lazy i'd find the article that describes the process, but in essence each person had their own wire for downloading IR (or something like that). i highly doubt the same will be true for coldplay tomorrow, and i;m anticipating HUGE site traffic. urgh.

thanks, tracie, for still recording it! we'll luuuuurve you forever if you do!

Talking of the Radiohead album I just remembered: I had a really bad stomach bug that week, and I couldn't sleep a wink on the evening of the 9th October. So basically, i stayed up till about 4AM waiting for the download link to be sent to me, but then I gave up and TRIED to get some sleep... but I just couldn't. S basically 2 hours later it was 6 o closck in the morning and the sky had that morning glow. I sat myself up in my bed, checked my inbox... and there was the link! (posted at 4:15 AM, as a matter of fact :dozey:) so basically I just spent the next 2 hours listening to In Rainbows on LOOP in an extremely groggy state, having not slept for 24 hours. And looking back, it was actually a strangely perfect way of listening to that album, because of the glow of the morning sky shining through the the curtains, my state of mind... the whole of the experience was dream-like. I of course collapsed onto my bed after my lectures finished at midday and slept until 7pm :dozey:

And there's my irrelevant spam of the day

^^ that'd be such a cool way to listen to Viva la Vida !!
