Violet Hill tabbed a bit out.

Featured Replies

VIOLET HILL.

Not got any time to tab it out.

What I already can say is.

That it is played in:

Verse: Db - A and also Db - E - F#

Solo: Db - B - Eb

More later.

Nice initiative!

I hear the piano verse as

C#m | A (plus some alternative A)

If Jonny plays in standard tuning, I guess the solo goes like this:

e|----------------------------|

B|----------------------------|

G|-8b9b8-6-8b9---------6------|

D|-------------6-8b9-6---6----|

A|-------------------------9--|

E|----------------------------|

Update:

After strings intro:

First 2 piano messures chords: Db(6x) Ab5(2x)

Second 2 piano messures chords: A(2x) B(2x) E(4x)

I got the solo down as:

|--------------------------------------------

|--------------------------------------------

|----9p8-----9-----------------------------

|----------11--------9------11-------------

|-----------------11----11------9----------

|-------------------------------------9------

Its in C# whoevers posting the chords

I got them down as

Was a [C#min] cold and dark december,

from the rooftops i re[C#min/B]member there was [A]snow. [Aaug4] White Snow [A6]

[C#min]Clearly i remember,

from the windows they were[C#/B] watching, while we [A]froze. [Aaug4] Down below. [A6]

When the [A] futures ..... like a Carnival... [C#min] show, you'd better ride love

If you [A] love [G#min or E/G#] wont you [F#min] let me [C#] know

[C#]

And then its just a repetition of that

During the verse the guitar its doing this on the g and b strings

b-------------------14----------

g------------------16b18------

where you dont ply the 18 just bend the 16 till it sounds like the 14, it does it over and over again, and an overdubbed guitar hits a 9th fret C#min triad

The fuzz guitar but that he does in the midle of every verse etc goes...

|---------------------------------

|---------------------------------

|---------------------------------

|-- -(5)-(4)--(3)---(2)------------

|---------------------------------

|-----3---2----1-----0---------------

Can play the bracketed notes if you like.

And thats about it, ive only done this from a few listens, so its not perfect, and ill do it properly witht he right lyrics at some point!

Yeah that looks alittle better, I knew it was more of a pull off/hammer on style than bends during the solo....when I tabbed it I tabbed it down lower but the same pattern....I'm just way out of tune right now so I knew I wasn't in the right spot but the pattern is simple to come up with...

that chord actually is C#min add 9, meaning you add a D# to it, not a B. Hope this helps.

here is what i figured out (*.gp5 [Guitar Pro 5]) the bass (from 3rd note) in the 4th/5th timebar must set down one octave, but i downt know how to do it with gp5.

Violet Hill chords

Well guys this is my first post on this site so i wanna say hi to you all first. We tried find the chords for this song with my friend Manolya who plays the piano and guitar just like i do.Iits easier to figure out songs on piano so i thought of giving it a try and the thing i got is almost as same as yours... I dont think its correct but at least it may help us to figure it out together.

i think it goes like this

C#m..............................F#m7

was a long and dark... snow, white snow

C#m........................... F#m7

clearly i remember... froze,down below

F#m........................A........... B

when the future... Show... low

............ A.................F#m C#m

if you love.. .wont you let... know

for the ones who will try it on the guitar i think its easier to play F#m7 like A chord...just add the second fret on the 6th string...

Please lets work this song out together.Bye

I was going from the bassline, which im fairly certain in decending down to A, not ascending, cos you'd go C#, B, A in the bass, which im fairly certain is happening. Unless we're both wrong and we're just hearing a B chord lol

Here is my version in Guitar Pro 5.

Zip file contains:

.gp5, .mid.

And PDF for basstab.

There you can see that the song played in dropped D.

are you sure the bass goes to the Eb there? (A string 6th fret)....i dunno, maybe it's just that it sounds weird by itself..

No offense towards your brilliant tabbing Stephan, but I think this song is played in Dbm or C#m not just Db, the song is definately played mostly in minor chords, the only major chords are played in the chorus from what I can hear

The bass is good, have you seen it is a different tuning? (dropped d)

Wow, sheet music would be crucial, my and is trying to cover this for a music festival coming up and we could really use that! It would be much appreciated!

There's a YouTube video of somebody playing it, as posted earlier. Hopefully this'll help with your "music festival".
