I Hate It/ I Love It

Featured Replies

I don't understand what's going on with me. One minute, I can't live without VH and the next minute, I want to kill it as much as I'd want to kill a cockroach.

I listen to Coldplay's old music like, Fix You, then compare it to today's Violet Hill and just get so depressed that they've changed so rapidly. Ok, listen, I'm not the one to complain because I do really like the songs so far, no love the songs so far.... just... on another band.

I still love CP as much as I did before, I just don't know what to say. I guess I want their old style on newer songs. :shame:

Don't be depressed yet, you haven't heard the album. It's only one song.

Plus you still have their old stuff to listen to, that will never go away :D

Have you thought about the song 'See You Soon' since you first listened to Violet Hill?

Sorry, Fix You is the one and only Coldplay song that always made me want to gauge my eyes out........

heh, very true on both. It just, doesn't sound like Coldplay to me. It's Great music. AROBTTH is Coldplay to me. Violet Hill... not so much.

of course it does.

Well....just my opinion. The cheesiest Coldplay song ever...

Now...give me any other Coldplay song and I think Violet Hill fits right in....

Fine. what would you rather? my other fav is AROBTTH or In My Place.

Oh, lookie! Another VH thread!

I've learned not to OD on any one song since I got really sick of Coldplay for a while. So I've only heard VH maybe 6 times now. At first I loved it 100% just because it was new Coldplay, but my producer's mind has gotten into the analytical phase, so I'm not taking it as a whole as much, and it's not blowing me away as much. But I still love it and I think it shows promise for a maturing band.

I agree with you, for me AROBTTH (album) is their absolute best..... and Violet Hill will never measure up to it, EVER, but it's better than Fix You, I think.

did you know that if you had listened to Violet Hill constantly since downloading it on Tues at 12.15BST you'd be on your 850th listen by now ;)

Ian please tell me you didn't spend time working that out? :P

I hope he used a calculator. Otherwise, that would take up even more time than my VH thread-count,lol.

That song continues to blow me away. What's funny is that I've been listening to AROBTTH at it's maximum since Violet Hill came out. Either that or In My Place. Just those two songs. It's funny because it's like, I have to hear some of their GOOOD old stuff after I've heard VH.

Lol, when is it not another VH thread? :laugh4:

Exactly! It's not blowing me away as much as it did. I've heard it about oh a good 10x now but it's not hitting me like it did the first 2x I heard it. I really hoped it would be something like AROBTTH, something that just... lasts. There's not much to this song anymore.

I honestly think it's because of so much hype and happiness and waiting that made the song so much sweeter. The joy of just listening to something new from them sense they haven't played anything in 3 years.

:stunned: wha.... great calculating.

i love violet hill the best song in three years of pure shite in the music world. when you star to hate vh think about the song as a live stadium song the other songs are great but this disc is gonna improve the coldplay work in stadiums. Coldplay need to go this step to become legandary like the stones and u2. the guys of coldplay have their wallets full of money they want to do something big. Just give them a chance. i love to see when talented people get what they deserve.

i liked it on the first listen. the lyrics that kind of rhyme but not really, are starting to get on my nerves. it's different. some parts i really like. other's i'm unsure. i'm sort of iffy on this right now though. i like the tune. catchy.

lryics and vocals...hm. not so sure. sorry chris. i do adore the ending though :D maybe i just want some more classic coldplay?

i can't wait for the whole album to make a good choice. :D

and the fog became god....?

Indya when i listen to a new song, it happens the same to me, i half like it half dislike it, but i give it the time to grow on me, and it does grow well after some more listening. ;)

And i still see Coldplay in this one, an evolution, is true, but still there's Coldplay in it.

I didn't had a previous idea of how it would sound or how i would like them to sound, just wanted that they kept something of them in it and they had done it.

I don't use to compare their new works with the previous ones, at least i can't judge a whole new album that none of us has listened yet just by a song. Once i'll listen the album, a week later then i'll can compare it with their previous works.

And i use to like that a band evolutes by themselves, is a good thing, it means them are more mature and trained but also want to try new things and they are doing it.

So just give you time and let it grows.

From the first listen I knew this would make an EPIC arena-rock song. I can't wait to hear it live!!:D

You're right, I've got that. I know, I can't just judge the entire album with one song but, well, I'm starting to get the hint from both VH and the 30 seconds of ASARY. I hear the voice, it's still the Chris that I know, so far. But I hear the guitar and totally forget about the bass and a little bit of the drums. It's like, that's all I hear is the guitar and the voice. Old tracks have everything equal on scale. I hear all the instruments, not one totally maxing out the rest.

I know! me either! I could just imagine them opening with VH. Oh how awesome.

SO TRUE! As soon as that smashing chorus came around the first time I listened I could almost picture the lights flashing like the main riff in Politik live
