You know you're addicted to Coldplay when...

Coldplay do have some sad songs, yes, but there's always a hint of hope in them somewhere.

This is linked to what my scary mind has worked out today (it may be boring, it's about literature related to Coldplay xD):

The motive of "hope" emerges from every single Coldplay song. So they might look sad, but they always have some sort of hopeful, if not happy, ending.

At school we're studying the Decadent movement, and if any of you know the poet Pascoli, you'll know that his poems are very famous and even taught at elementary school because they appear gleeful and straightforward, but if you analyze them, you discover that there are always hidden signs which refer to a latent atmosphere of fear, death, and so on, which well represents the Decadent atmosphere.

So, what I worked out is: Coldplay's songs, or poetics, we may say, is the opposite of the Decadent movement's one. I had this enlightenment today during the Italian lesson :idea2: and I felt the urgent need to tell my desk partner:

Me: "Oh LOOK! :idea2: I've just found out that..."

Her: :blank: "... Nice."

And then, a few minutes ago, reading the text analysis of the poem Spleen by Baudelaire I figured out that it's like a negative version of Fix You! :P

There's the repetition of "When...", but the poem ends in complete despare.

Ok. I've bored you enough. Sorry, bye :P

YKYATCW you draw Jonny as the Mad Hatter, from some crazy fanfic you're writing about Coldplay (and also draw/are in the process of drawing the others as the other characters):

I do not know Pascoli (maybe his poems will be taught later here) nor about the Decadent Movement but I do get what you're saying. I understand that. It's true, every single Coldplay song has that "hope" idea. There is always that message in their songs, which is just so awesome.

But I do know Baudelaire and I think I've read Spleen last year but I might take a look at it again. It's good information and not boring :D That's actually great and intelligent that you discovered that !!!! :awesome:

edit: Awesome Jonny drawing indeed !! :D

Thank you :P It's more or less the Italian movement corresponding to Symbolism or Aestheticism, he belongs to that...

Maybe Spleen and Fix You aren't related at all and I'm just mad, I warn you :lol But thanks anyway :D

YKYATCW you're shopping online and you see this shirt and you HAVE TO HAVE IT. Because it makes you think of coldplay.
