Perhaps not in America (though that is argueable as they still play large venues especially in larger U.S. markets) But they are still major STADIUM headliners in the U.K. and last tour they played a 15 song set for those gigs which are MUCH bigger than any gigs Coldplay has ever played.

 

If you want a "major U.S. Headliner" though, I've seen at least one Aerosmith ahow on every tour since the Nine Lives tour in '97. They've been major headliners since the late 70's and have a much bigger back catalog to draw from. (in addition to larger ticket prices. I've never seen them do a show longer than 20 songs. (sometimes fewer)

 

As someone else said. Nobody here has anything to do with the length of Coldplay's shows, if you disagree with prices or the length or quality of the show, stay home.

What really bothers me in all of this is as somebody stated just how much the touts and tickets agencies are going to make out of this,I had a lot of trouble getting my ticket for the Manchester 11th show thanks to ticketmasters awful on-line booking system and ended up with a seat quite a way back on the floor section,so I thought about another ticket for the Liverpool show which I then purchased on ebay for £38 and this was the front section on the floor,the seller must have realised how much he or she had lost on this and decided to somehow get their ebay account cancelled which left me with no ticket and an apologetic email from them telling how they'd have to re-sell them elsewhere.So if Coldplay are reading this, PLEASE NEXT TIME YOU TOUR PLEASE HAVE A PRE-SALE AND MAKE IT STANDING IN THE FLOOR SECTION SO THEN MAYBE GENUINE FANS WILL GET A CHANCE TO SEE THEIR FAVOURITE BAND........OH AND THREATEN TO TAKE EBAY AND THOSE THIEVING TICKET AGENCIES BASTARDS TO COURT IF THEY CHARGE EVEN A PENNY OR CENT OVER THE FACE VALUE OF A TICKET.

Welcome to our world. They didn't have standing on their last tour and they won't on this tour. Oh you can get first row, if you want to pay $1,000 per ticket. Why would the band want a bunch of rick dickheads who know fuck all about them up at the front instead of fans who are more than happy to spend all day in line for a first row chance. It's when I see them in the first row, fixing their make up and talking on their cell phones instead of listening to the band. I always make sure I throw a cup of $7 beer at them, because I'm petty like that.

 

:laugh3: Reminds me of the "brat pack" in Whistler who "go to ski" but do nothing but wander round the week on their mobile phones wearing the gear "because it's cool" without actually boarding or skiing.

 

I wonder why the band doesn't think of a lottery system to pre-registered fans? Problem there though I think is how do you stop professional touts simply abusing that system as well by signing up? There's no point citing band knowledge as "proof" of being a fan, because these days, *anything* can be found on the internet - as we've seen over things like the Bakery on this very forum!

 

Perhaps for the next tour Chris & Co should spend a month prior to touring interviewing all really dedicated fans for a 5m slot each. Those that really entertain the band with their answers get special slots reserved! Not feasible of course, but in an ideal world....

I have a better idea, how about a lottery full-stop.

 

Dates get announced, people have say like 7 days to register, after the period the tickets are drawn in a lottery and the winners are invited to purchase tickets and after a while any un-collected tickets get re-drawn/put on general sale
