Are your parents proud of you?

So, let me start with explaining our school system a bit.

Once you're 14/15, you go to a high school. To put it in a simple way, there are two different high schools - a vocational school (in our case for those who wish to work in kindergartens) and a more special and more difficult high school that gives you only general knowledge about a variety of subject and is considered as an "elite school" but it really isn't.

And there's this girl, whose mom works together with my mom. And the other day my mom told me that the girl's mom was always saying that her daughter goes to the "elite" school. But in the end some people figured out that she was lying - the girl was apparently attending the vocational school for kindergarten teachers, which is sometimes considered as low class.

As it seems, her mother wasn't happy with the school her daughter chose to attend. She was lying to others and probably to herself, too, that she was attending the school for those who are smart and excellent and what not.

Has the same thing happened to you? Are your parents proud of your choices? Do they lie about your status/schooling etc.?

I like Coldplay! What do you think?:P

But my smart-alek response over, our system is different in Ireland, we have vocational and fee-paying but in a country this small EVERYONE knows someone who knows the truth lol

They hate you with all their heart! :P

Almost none of Slovenia's schools are fee-paying.

But it's not true that everyone knows everything about everyone. We're not THAT small :P

alright.

we got a really weird school system in germany, too.

after elementary school (four years/grades) one has pick one of three schools.

i can't translate all the names.

the first one is for kids who only want to go to school for 9 years. that sort of school has got a really, really bad reputation. saying that people who go there are usually quite... erm... not so intelligent. well, they get to become hair dressers and stuff. hahaha. jobs you don't need a high qualification for.

the second sort of school aims for higher education. people have to go there for 6 years (10 years of school total) and if they're good they are able to continue school and take their a-levels´, but they might as well just quit after 10 years.

the third school is sort of like the "elite".

it's for kids who are rather intelligent (not in mos cases, though :laugh3:) who intend to go to university once. they take their a-levels, which makes it 13 years of school total.

i'm part of the third school system.

i think my parents are really proud of me.

they don't even have to lie about my marks or anything. i'm doing quite well. thing is that i actually feel embarrassed when they talk about how i do in school. but i like that they support me and what i intend to do. so i guess they're proud to have an ambitious daughter.

Well WE are. In a country this small, everybody is inbred

Now THERE'S a thought - let's just say weddings are interesting

Iin a country this small EVERYONE knows someone who knows the truth lol

ha, very true...............

"do you know the man who lives next door to your auntie's sister's friend's uncle who works in that shop beside your granny's hairdresser... you know, the man with the shoes..."

I think my parents were actually pretty mad at me for graduating with an English degree which they funded for 3 years... and then I decided I was going to take myself off and start a nursing degree :S

But 2 years on, I think I'm in the good books 'cos they've realised it took alot for me to make the change and now I'm working my arse off so I can have a good career which I will enjoy

Good for you!!

And the above quotation is the reason why there's no Irish celebrities on this island - "well, I knew the lad when he was in but nappies....blah blah blah" you know how it is!

hahahha...

oh yes... there'd be uncensored photos all over the world!!

:stunned:

Ah nah. Biology's not my thing.

I hope they are proud of me. I don't think I do enough for them to be proud, though.

My Mum told me she was proud of me not long before she died. I can't remember when my Dad last told me he was proud of me, but I hope he is.

EDIT: If they could see some of the pervy rubbish I write on this forum then they'd deny knowing me :P

^aww Chris.

mine also told me that she was proud of me, in fact i won't be doing some things that i am doing if she wouldn't had told me "if you take a year off studies then you won't study anymore, a year later probably you won't like to study".

my dad is proud of me, and he says me that usually those times (may be is because he misses me now )

is good to feel loved and appreacited in your family i think.

but anyways there are things that they don't like or agree too much with me.

this thread is awesome. the answer is... YES!!!!!! Yeah!!!!!!!

Let me rephrase the question : are your parents dead ?

Let me rephrase the question : are your parents dead ?

Are your parents the Queen and Prince Phillip??

I do have big ears, but not that big.

So you're Edward??

haha Guess Who? is a two-player guessing game created by Ora and Theo Coster also known as Theora Design first manufactured by Milton Bradley in 1987.

well, they never said so.. but I think/hope they are.

I know they wanted me to choose another direction than the English/Spanish studies I chose. Ive always been the smartest one of my class, best grades and best compliments from every teachers.. (although they never showed off to their friends) so I guess they were quite disappointed when I decided to go to basic university..

and my parents arent really expressive..

Are my parents proud of me?

Well, when I was a young kid they made me go out into the wild and fight a wolf with nothing but loincloth and a spear. Or maybe that was in 300. Can't remember. But I am certain that I've at least made an impact on my parents lives so whether or not they like me is gravy really;):D
