Chris on why Kylie track was axed from VLV in Metro Newspaper (New album in 2009??)

Featured Replies

Hey guys.

I dont know if this has already been posted (if it has my apologies) but Ive just read an interesting piece from the metro newspaper. In the interview with Q, Chris was saying that the track the boys recorded with Kylie was axed because she made the band 'too sexy'. Chris goes on to say that the track is called 'Lunar' and that ''It will 100% see the light of day and I'm going to tell you exclusively that it will be on a record that we will put out at the end of next year."

Heres the link to the whole article anyways:

Again, apologies if this has already been posted!

Wow.... Chris tends to exaggerate, but I hope the album news is true. A year and a half away, though....

Yeah thats what I thought! Still, good that the track will see the light of day!

Another record?! HE SAID IT! AWESOMEEEEE!!!!! :stunned:

A duet with Kylie?! Still not so sure about that...

That's only 1.5 years - a lot shorter than the wait between X&Y and upcoming album.

That album would probably contain the material that was really good, but couldn't be on VLV.

'Well it's just too sexy, at this point we cannot be that sexy…'

 too late Mister !

Coldplay's Kylie collaboration 'too sexy' for new album

Chris Martin has revealed Coldplay's collaboration with Kylie will be released next year because it was too sexy to include on their new album.

When he was asked why it didnt make it onto latest record Viva La Vida, he said: "Well, its just too sexy. At this point we cannot be that sexy, also we haven't quite finished it. It's a song called Lunar and Kylie is particularly brilliant on it."

Speaking during an interview for the launch of new radio station Q Radio, the singer insisted the single will be released.

"It will 100% see the light of day and I'm going to tell you exclusively that it will be on a record that we will put out at the end of next year," he continued.

"It'll be track nine I imagine and then track ten will be a song called Life In Technicolour which is the song of a piece that we put on this album and it will neatly wrap up things for the end of the decade."

Martin was also quizzed over his views on the controversy surrounding another of Coldplay's collaborative partners, Jay-Z's headline slot at this year's Glastonbury festival.

"It's just proof that a great portion of the world are idiots," he said. "I don't even know where the controversy started; it probably started from two people on a computer who don't really know what they're talking about."

You can hear the full interview tonight, including the first ever radio play of Lovers In Japan from the new album, on Q: PM between 6-9pm. Q Radio is available on DAB in London and Freeview throughout the UK.

I believe I speak for everyone when I say:

:o:o:o:o:o:o:o:o:o:o:o:o:o

YES!

FULL version of LIT? Awesome!

Both the Kylie duet and the full version of "Life In Technicolor" sound like they belong on an EP of extras or on singles as B-sides. I don't see why they'd end an album with these songs, or even include the full version of LIT on an album when it was essentially on the last one twice.

Well they said something similar in that KROQ interview about wrapping up the decade with the 5th album.

They also said they'd disappear :( But I hope what they meant by that was find a new record company and come back stronger :P

it could be a different version of the same song. like radiohead and morning bell.

Already announcing a new record? Awesomness!!!

This could be a b-sides collection..

another record so fast?? mm im not sure..i know they won't dissapoint but it will be too soon...maybe a Greatest Hits plus bonus tracks?>? idk

If the new album next year is the songs like Famous Old/New Painters, Glass Of Water etc that didn't make Viva, does that mean there will be OTHER b-sides for the singles off this album? How many songs did they write?!

^25 songs i think. I'm not sure whether thats overall, or only unreleased tracks from this era, but i definitely remember seeing that number somewhere.

so.... they're pulling a Zooropa (a completely new album in the middle of a tour) I really look forward to this new Coldplay Era!

I see it as more like an Amnesiac. OR (:laugh3: read the poll on the front page) is like Kid A, LP5 is like Amnesiac, even has double songs like Morning Bell is Life In Technicolor.

Look at me jumbling the words and making no sence!

Honestly, Coldplay is just a sexy band no matter what Chris says to be "too sexy". I mean, THIS IS CHRIS, JONNY, GUY, WILL we're talking about here.
