Utterly Dissapointing ?

Featured Replies

The only songs I liked were The Escapist (a weird twist on Life In Technicolour), Death and All His Friends, Lost!, and Viva La Vida.

The rest IMO were utter crap. Who's with me!? :laugh3:

Basically all the songs that were leaked was all I needed. Rest are seriously blah. Viva La Vida is by far the best one to me. Kings, Roman Conquest, Monarchy. Beautiful

i love yes, cemetries of london, strwaberry swing and 42 aswell. + i love the ending with the escapist its perfect

Lovers in Japan , Viva la vida , Cemetries of london, 42 , yes! , lovers in japan , death and all his friends, viva la vida , violet hill

i all love those :D great album

I don't agree at all..

I think the album is a musical Rembrandt... It's vibrant and melodious. I think, as a whole, this is their best album yet... kudo's!!!

to put it simply... the only songs I can't stand are Lost! and Violet Hill. They're just... terrible. The lyrics are some of the worst I've heard from Chris. hurting but not hurt? yeah okay. Other than that the rest of the album is great... some of the other lyrics are a bit too "pop" but hey maybe once their contract is up with EMI, chris can really stretch out his head a bit.

It will be their best album so far

this album almost brought me too tears especially on reign of love:cry:(:embarassed:)...its absolutely amazing I loved every single minute of this album. Thankyou Chris, Jonny, Guy and Will!

Its definetely better than x&y, I loved all the songs! Great work :D

I like most of the songs. The album is different but in a good way..It's nice to see that Coldplay tries something new. I like Strawberry Swing and i think the end of Death And All His Friends is genious :D I agree with Nicolaz this is wayy better than X&Y

great great great :D:Dit's not better or worse than X&Y or AROBTTH. It's different and perfect :D

better than X&Y yes....better than AROBTTH...no...not even close....most the album is good but lost and strawberry swing i could do without

better than X&Y yes....better than AROBTTH...no...not even close....most the album is good but lost and strawberry swing i could do without

Lost is awesome! I love the solo near the end.

Extremely disappointing album. The sound is good, and I think they're a very disciplined band. I don't hear much bad on this album, but the good is not great. It's simply just okay.

Overall, the album is better than X&Y, but X&Y had a few great songs on it. I don't hear one great song on this album.

it's hard to compare with a rush of blood to the head but this is one of the best albums ever, the only song I did not like was reign of love, maybe I will find it good later

Each to the own but only having heard the songs on Youtube through shitty speakers this album is going to be on another level Lovers in Japan gave me such a wonderful warm feeling inside

Its a shame it's leaked so early. It was inevitable I guess. Are the record company mad, they should just release it now on I-Tunes. I did a pre-order.

As for the record, I am a bit disappointed. Have given it a listen a few times, and for me it's full of fantastic musicianship, but it's not as good as previous records. I admire them though for branching out and going for a new sound. I hate to say this, I really do, but some of it feels badly mixed, and bit over produced.

It is good though, don't get me wrong, and I'm not slating the band. They're a supremely talented group, and have a long future ahead of them. Just some of the stuff Chris has said in recent interviews about this being a masterpiece, and that he wants to set the standard for songs at the moment, is just way off the mark. If they'd made something like the Joshua Tree with this, then fair enough, but this is not a masterpiece.

Highlights for me are 42, which is just awesome, and should have been the next single. Viva La Vida is excellent, and for me should have been the opening single, not Violet Hill.

Lowlights, Lost, which is way way overproduced for my liking, and Strawberry Swing does very little for me.

I agree with one of the postings on here, which said the records lacks any massive songs. I agree with a lot of views on X&Y, in that it was over produced and too long, but it had some blinding songs on it that weren't singles like What If, Square One and Low.

Oh and while I'm at, the amount of plageurism on this record is shocking. Am I the first to notice that the riff on Life in Technicolour is the same as Vertigo by U2? OK, so Edge probably nicked it too, but come on, thats a total theft. The ending on Death and All His Friends, that guitar work sounds like Status Quo, and on 42 it is a serious nod to Imagine, but I'll forgive that because it's a blinding tune.

I know it's different....but it really (IMO) is less cohered than X&Y. Saying it's leagues better....well I don't know if those saying it are sincere or just being fanboys of "the new Coldplay thing."

Either way, very disappointing album

I think Strawberry Swing and Yes are the most interesting things the boys have released since AROBTTH :) and i think that as a whole, it's a great album!

Cheers to Zurby and Hugh, i agree with you guys, I wont repeat what i already said numerous times on the official opinions thread. Glad to see not everyone is a brainwashed groupie here.

I answer "no" to the question though. It's not utterly disappointing. Chris sings way better than on X&Y, he doesn't sound like an agonizing cat anymore and the production is generally pleasant, nothing to do with X&Y's fat whipped cream.

I absolutely love the album. I went to the cinema tonite and all I could think about was getting out so I could come out and listen to the album again! Love it!!!!

this album hands down RELATIVELY FUCKING SUCKS....do i even hear buckland on this album? i cant stand reading 14 year old girls swoon over these songs...i'm a guy who loves good rock and i always take shit for telling other guys i like coldplay, but after this bullshit album i've had enough, buckland needs to man up and start rippin on his guitar...
