Tottenham 4 - 0 Liverpool

Nine-man Liverpool were embarrassed at White Hart Lane as Tottenham cruised to a 4-0 win.

Emmanuel Adebayor scored twice on his home debut, with Luka Modric and Jermain Defoe also netting, as Charlie Adam and Martin Skrtel were sent off.

Croatian Modric curled home brilliantly from 25 yards on seven minutes. On 65 minutes, Defoe made it two before Jose Reina's mistake two minutes later allowed Adebayor to poke home. He then made it four with the final kick.

Rooney scored his ninth goal in just five Premier League games

Man Utd 3 - 1 Chelsea

Wayne Rooney hit his ninth Premier League goal of the season as Manchester United brushed aside Chelsea at Old Trafford.

The England man scored his team's third after Chris Smalling had headed home Ashley Young's free-kick and Nani hammered in from 25 yards. Fernando Torres netted only his second goal for Chelsea straight after the break.

And Rooney missed a penalty after Jose Bosingwa brought down Nani. United started quickly, with Smalling allowed a free header from Ashley Young's free-kick on eight minutes to make it 1-0. Half-an-hour later, Nani controlled a high ball on the right and cut inside. Chelsea's defenders backed off and the Portugal winger lashed home from 25 yards.

With Andre Villas-Boas's men still reeling, Rooney made it 3-0. Phil Jones picked up the ball on the halfway line, running 30 yards before laying it off to Nani, who backheeled. The ball cannoned around the area as John Terry tried to clear but it landed at Rooney's feet, who calmly made it three.

After just 30 seconds of the second half, Torres made it 3-1 when he latched on to substitute Nicolas Anelka's through ball and slotted past David de Gea. United should have made it 4-1 when Nani hit the bar and was tripped by Jose Bosingwa in the area as he tried to follow it up. But Rooney slipped and side-footed the penalty well wide. Sir Alex Ferguson's only real concern was Javier Hernandez hobbling off midway through the second-half after Ashley Cole went over the top of the ball, crashing into the Mexican's ankle.

Torres could have made it 3-2 after selling De Gea a brilliant dummy and running clear - but he fired wide of an open goal.

Fulham 2-2 Man City

Manchester City blew a 2-0 lead as a battling Fulham fought back to rescue a point with a fine second-half showing. Sergio Aguero scored his seventh and eighth goals of the season, first tucking in David Silva's pass before firing in just after the break.

City were dominant in the first period but Bobby Zamora shot into the top corner from Clint Dempsey's lay-off to awaken Craven Cottage on 55 minutes. Danny Murphy equalised when his shot took a deflection off Vincent Kompany. Roberto Mancini's side will rue a host of missed chances in a dominant first-half perfomance, not least when Mark Schwarzer saved from both Gael Clichy and Edin Dzeko.

Credit, however, must go to Fulham, who somehow shrugged off their lethargy to secure their third point of the season and double their league goals tally.

The game was a lesson for City who, following their midweek Champions League exertions, looked unable to muster the necessary energy to press for the winner after Murphy's 76th minute equaliser. Martin Jol's side had even less time to prepare for the game, though, following their Europa League game on Thursday. And in becoming the first Premier League side to deny City maximum points this term, Fulham will be confident the draw can kick-start their season.

Before Fulham's second-half resurgence, the game was played at a leisurely pace, but once City got a grip on possession early on they began to cut Fulham apart.

There were few chances before Aguero gave City the lead on 18 minutes, but once the 23-year-old pounced, the visitors could have trebled the margin. The goal itself was a relatively simple affair as Gareth Barry passed to Silva on the edge of the box, and when the Spaniard fed the diminutive Argentine, he made no mistake.

While there was a suggestion of offside about the goal, Fulham had no time to dwell on it. Schwarzer tipped Clichy's shot round the post soon afterwards and then made an even better stop to deny Dzeko's header from Aguero's cross. Mancini had warned his team about their profligacy against Wigan last weekend, where they had a string of chances but similarly were only a goal up in the first half.

But he must have thought he could relax just 12 seconds after the re-start when Aguero pounced once again. Clichy's long diagonal pass was nodded down by Dzeko and Aguero took one touch before firing across Schwarzer into the bottom corner. Then, seemingly from out of nothing, Fulham burst into life. Zamora was given too much room as he was found by Dempsey on the edge of the box, and the England striker struck the ball cleanly as it sailed into the top corner.

All of a sudden, Fulham awoke from their slumber and Hart was twice called into action as the hosts searched for an equaliser. First, he was at full stretch to tip Moussa Dembele's shot round the post and then he stopped Dempsey's header from a corner. But Fulham looked a completely different side and Hart could do little about the equaliser when it came 15 minutes from the end.

Zamora laid the ball off to Murphy and his shot was deflected in-off Kompany.

Although Mancini claimed afterwards that Dzeko had been fouled in the build-up, few home fans would have been bothered as they cheered an amazing recovery.

Epic Miss by torres !

City playing in Red and Black still looks weird, I keep thinking, Why are Milan in the English Sports pages:laugh3:.

They'll have to do the video again... everyone knows the sun doesn't shiiiiiiiiine on that part of Manchestaaar! ;)
I'll just correct that for yor ;)

Brilliant win by the mighty Swansea yesterday, although the day had a few dampeners on it with those being my other team Brighton losing for the first time this season and a few West Brom supporters trying to ruin the minutes silence at the Liberty stadium. Still, a good day.

United kinda realising they're not a perfect team after all let alone a team who think they can keep making our capital city second-fiddle!. 3-1 is quite a disappointment considering the goal flurry's of recent times and conceding a goal to someone who was firing blanks for absolutely ages.

Rooney's penalty misses never fail to make me laugh, they're always bad misses and hardly ever good shots on target.

Looking forward to seeing Torres's tackle later, he got a straight red for it

Carling Cup fourth round draw

League Two side Aldershot will welcome Manchester United to the EBB Stadium in the fourth round of the Carling Cup. The Shots, who are the lowest ranked team left in the Cup, beat League One Rochdale 2-1 to reach the last 16. Last season's beaten finalists Arsenal are at home to Premier League rivals Bolton while Stoke entertain Liverpool. The ties, which will be played the week of 24 October, also see Wolves host Manchester City, while Chelsea visit Everton and Newcastle go to Blackburn. There are two all-Championship games with Cardiff taking on Burnley while Southampton go to Crystal Palace.

Wolves v Manchester City

Cardiff v Burnley

Blackburn v Newcastle United

Arsenal v Bolton

Stoke v Liverpool

Aldershot v Manchester United

Crystal Palace v Southampton

Everton v Chelsea

did anyone else listen to Craig Burley spout utter shit during the commentary of Stoke v Man Utd?

Bolton are bottom of the Premier League, good job they have a manager who never jumps ship and rises to every challenge no matter how difficult.

:whatever:
