As a Liverpool fan I think it was a good starting point for us with a new squad and in that first half we showed a lot of potential. Anyway I can see us returning to the top 4 this year, United winning the league and Man City 2nd, Arsenal 5th/6th. It'll be a good season though and I look forward to more of it :D
August 14, 201114 yr The last few seasons have been a bit of a fucking mess, last season especially, United had an average team and often played poorly but won it quite comfortably. Then outside of the top 8-10 were a bunch of inconsistent teams, the quality was so poor and match results were random. A team could win at the Emirates on Sunday and then lose at home to Blackburn on Wednesday, the pundits seem to like the unpredictability but for me personally it's really not fun anymore. So going forward, not much conclusion to draw from today but I am hoping the quality improves overall and we start to see more star players team for team.

But there is still the opportunity for them to finish in the top 4 providing they buy some replacements for Nasri and Fabregas AND get a quality centre back to partner the injury prone Vermaelen. But Liverpool have the quality to see them through to the Champions League next year. Downing was the pick of the bunch today. Charlie Adam showed his quality from the dead ball and other flashes of why Kenny bought him. But the second half showed that the team have to work on their fitness. As for Man City. They have the ability to succeed this year but also the ability to implode big time. Anything less than a convincing win against Swansea tomorrow will not be good enough for them. I still see the possibility that Mancini will be sacked by Christmas.

I agree that our fitness isn't good enough but maybe that's down to friendlies, pre season in asia and the copa america. I think Arsenal are doomed to be honest, I think this will disrupt the squad to much and will be a distraction for them throughout the season. Man city will do well this season. Swansea will be no problem for them, an easy 3-0 win I think. If things aren't working out then yeah I can see Mancini sacked by Christmas too

For me United won the league because Van Der Sar played out of his skin all season long. They also depended on other teams losing quite a bit too and with Van Der Sar gone I think it'll open up the title race more this year. From a neutral point of view I love the inconsistency, it spices things up instead of a boring predictable season by the end of November. I still think United will win the league this season but it'll be one of the hardest seasons for them yet.
