If only....  I could recognize this fluffy hair anywhere... :sneaky:

I saw a little documentary on Freddy a few days ago (they were 'celebrating' his death anniversary) and they showed private films of him (you see him in his bathtub fooling around... ). They interviewed his mom, sister and lover. People I've never seen, it was really interesting but I teared up at the end...so moving...We miss you dearly Freddy.

One of the greatest rock "frontmen" of all time, without a doubt. His performance at Live Aid was phenomenal. Incredibly energetic.

just...mind blowing.

I can't think of anyone else who could possibly play Freddie. Cohen is a very good actor in my opinion and does have an ability to play a variety of characters with ease. Ali-G, Borat, Bruno... all different!

Sacha Baron Cohen, the man behind Borat and Bruno, will take on some serious fare when he stars in the role of Queen's Freddie Mercury in an upcoming biopic. The as-yet-untitled film will track Mercury's career from the beginnings of Queen to their performance at the 1985 Live Aid concert at Wembley Stadium. (Deadline reports that Mercury's final years and AIDS-related death in 1991 won't be part of the film.) No director has been hired yet, but the script will be written by Peter Morgan, who scripted the acclaimed Frost/Nixon and The Last King of Scotland. Queen's site and GK Films, which won the rights to use Queen's music, and say that the film will start production in 2011.

It's unknown whether Cohen will attempt to replicate Mercury's vocals or if the original tracks will be used. "Queen is one of the greatest rock bands of all time, and a music brand all unto itself," GK Films' Graham King said in a statement. "Freddie Mercury was an awe-inspiring performer, so with Sacha in the starring role, coupled with Peter's screenplay and the support of Queen, we have the perfect combination to tell the real story behind their success."

so. I never really got into Queen. but I like almost all of the individual songs I've heard.

but they have a million albums. so I bumped this to ask everyone what the best one is.

thank you for your time.

I'm probably going to get hated for this, but their Greatest Hits album is my favorite. :P

Good selection of songs with a few that you probably have not heard yet.

Although I can't say I know a lot of Queen albums. :anxious:

I might go with that one first, I normally hate Greatest Hits records, but there's just SO MUCH to pick from to listen to first :dizzy:

Plus from what I can tell Queen is one of those bands whose sound changed a lot over the years, so I dunno even which period I like best...

I agree, start with the two greatest hits albums. Then, you could pick any albums (minus the last one) cause there are hits on all of them!

The band is celebrating is 40th anniversary this year and they're releasing all their catalogue remastered I think...

Wow, really? 40 years already. . .

Yep! Q did a long ITV of Brian and Roger on march (?) issue about that. Really moving when they both speak about Freddie :bigcry:

For the record, downloading the Greatest Hits album may have been the best decision I ever made.

:nice:

Queen the best band of all time?

I dont think any band can really compete with Queen

I disagree - I think that the BEATLES should also be considered in this category.

The beatles arent bad but compared to Queen they dont really have a chance, Queen had the best singer, frontman of all time and their musicianship was far better than the beatles and they wrote songs in almost every genre there is.
