Viva La Vida hits number one: Your Reactions?

Featured Replies

its just been announced on the main page that the band has reached the number one spot on the billboard charts after a long climb.

We were pleased enough when Viva La Vida reached Number 2 in last week's Billboard Hot 100 singles chart. Now it's climbed to Number 1.

Your reactions?

My reaction- What's Viva la Vida?

Who is this Coldplay you speak of?

Are they some kind of cult or something?

Did we really expect anything OTHER THAN???

i was just surprised to see it get all the way to number one. is that due to the quality of the song or massive hype thats been pumped into this album especially this song. would it still of been this successful if it hadnt been for that iTunes ad? i can barely name a single song by a british rock band that has got this high on the charts.

Um... yeah. Apparently it's the first British #1 since the Spice Girls 11 years ago. And the second to last one before that was "I'm Too Sexy" in 1992. :stunned:

And the last #1 in the US by an actual British ROCK BAND (though I'll admit--the Spice Girls might rock sometimes?) was in October 1988 with Love Bites by Def Leppard. Go figure!
