I feel stupid but I don't really understand how the writers strike affected this movie's release date or vice versa?

The writers went on strike, so they didn't write anything new, so there is a shortage of blockbusters films being made right now for next summer, so the studios say

Ohh ok it makes more sense now to me how the writers strike figures into their argument for the postponement, albeit a weak one.

Its BS. Theyre just delaying cuz they want to be next year's Dark Knight. It has nothing to do with the strike. If the strike had that big of an effect they would have delayed it long ago, not right after Dark Knight starts breaking every record.

I know it's not a huge deal, there are worst things happening right now but the reasons just seem completely rubbish to me.It's just money and that's bothers me. Harry Potter Movies are not the greatest most philosophical films of all time but it's still entertainment and art, you know. And money comes before that apparently....which is pretty sad.

Well I won't speak for the others, but I personally was already looking forward to Dark Knight before Heath even died. His portrayal of the Joker was already creating buzz wayyy before his unexpected death.

 

anyway, what's there to look forward to in November now?

Even though I doubt that WB will even register this at all, there is a petition going around trying to get the movie date back to Nov. if anyone wants to sign it.

No, we hope they don't edit it - OotP was the weakest in the series and was choppy and had farrrr too much stuff taken out of it. Longest book, shortest film - WTF?

 

It may or may not interest you to hear the first thing I said when I heard the news about the delay was "bullshit". Perhaps not. It's just because Dark Knight is now smashing alllllll the records and kicking some ass in the movie department and they don't want much competition for HPB to become another blockbuster. A delay is convenient - less stuff this summer in the US because of the strike.
