From the daily telegraph:

Chris Martin, the lead singer of popular UK pop band Coldplay will appear in court later this year after allegedly attacking a photographer at Byron Bay on the Far North Coast.

Martin, the boyfriend of actress Gwyneth Paltrow, allegedly attacked freelance photographer Jon Lister and damaged his car with a rock.

Martin was in Byron Bay for the Splendour in the Grass music festival and is travelling with Paltrow, although she was not believed to be present during the incident.

Lister claims he had taken pictures of Martin surfing with members of their entourage at Seven Mile Beach yesterday morning.

He says the frontman became infuriated and demanded he erase the pictures from the digital camera.

He is then alleged to have said "anywhere you go, I will go" unless the pictures were deleted.

Martin is then alleged to have run to Lister's car and attacked the windscreen with a rock.

He is then alleged to have released air from the tyres of the car.

A man and a woman were with Martin at the time of the incident. The man is believed to be a member of one of Australia's leading rock bands.

Police went to the exclusive Rae's Hotel and Restaurant at Wategos Beach where Martin and Paltrow were staying.

Martin is due to face Byron Bay Local Court on October 8 on a charge of malicious damage.

Lister, employed by a Sydney- based magazine to cover the music festival, did not want to comment on the incident.
