Blackadder thread

One of the greatest TV shows ever :)

Baldrick, does it have to be this way? Our valued friendship ending with me cutting you up into strips and telling the prince that you walked over a very sharp cattle grid in an extremely heavy hat?

Why is it that all the greatest TV shows only last a few seasons?

I think it's best for shows to end before their time is up, before they "jump the shark".

I assume you mean the UK version of the Office and not the USA version? ;)

Nobody else will fuse intelligent writing with potty jokes in such convincing fashion ever again... Throw in some legendary performances and fantastic on screen chemistry, and Blackadder is a unique triumph in British television history.

In my opinion, the show improved with every series, ending with the most brilliant moment of dramatic irony:

Captain Darling: I say, listen - our guns have stopped.

Lieutenant George: You don't think...

Private Baldrick: Perhaps the war's over. Perhaps it's peace.

Captain Darling: Thank God. We lived through it. The Great War, 1914 to 1917.

*Cue collective groan from the audience*

Whatever they say, one of the greatest endings to a tv series:

Makes you miss the old roman-numbers system they put on the end of TV shows to show what year they were made, instead of something like MCMLXXXIX these days it's MMVIII

Good documentary on Blackadder, with interviews with all the cast that was on telly Christmas night.

Blackadder Rides Again, and with some rather good music at 57 seconds

is this show on telly again... i mean i thought it was something a bit old.

too bad that those things aren't shown here :(

we only know Rowan for his Mr. Bean show.

It gets repeated quite a bit, but they are not making any new episodes because in the words of the cast "they are too old or in the case of Hugh Laurie, too famous"
