NEW ALBUM IN JANUARY?!

Featured Replies

My mom just told me that they said Coldplay is gonna release their new album in January! She said that she heard it on D.C. 101 (Elliot in the Morning) a radio station in D.C. (obviously).

In last few weeks there were lots of informations like this. I dont want them to rush. Better great album then something not that good but soon.

I still think its just gonna be a viva la vida b-sides catalogue anyway. So January would be nice.

it's supposed to be march isn't it? or may? it begins with "M" anyways. lol

anything new would be good....but hopefullly there will be longer songs...not like death will never conquor

Yeah I read the same news in a newspaper today. If you're willing to wait for half an hour or so, I can translate it.

that would be nice, nina! :nice:

but i don't know, i'm just not believing any of this stuff for a while, even when it comes from the guys themselves. i don't think THEY really know right now, even, because they're in the middle of a huge tour. unless it's just going to be everything that was cut from VLVOD and they don't have to do much but work out the track order and pick artwork, i really don't see this happening until like, next winter at the earliest. i might be completely wrong, but if i'm being logical, i think we have a bit longer to wait than january/march 2009.

Okay, I will :) But it looks like I've forgotten the newspaper in my room and I can't go there atm, so you'll have to wait till tomorrow morning. I hope that's ok. But I wouldn't trust it too much, because it's more like a high-brow tabloid. And not a quality newspaper :D

edit: 8003 posts, yay! :D

New album!?

I remember reading somewhere that the "Eno sessions" were very fruitful.

So the boys actually have more songs that weren't finished in time for VLVODAAHF.

I don't know where the heck i read that though

hopefully we'll finally hear songs like "leftrightleftrightleft", "glass of water", "lukas", "rainy day", "poppy fields", etc!

Okay, I found one similar, so i'll post it here asap.

^i REALLY wanted to hear leftrightleftrightleft...with a creative name like that, it must be good

leftrightleftrightleft was one I was looking forward to hearing too.

but I found out it's the same song as prospekts march.

oh wtf...says who???

edit: oh wait, after thinking about it, it shouldnt be too much of a shock...leftrightleftrightleft could be the 'marching' part of prospekts march

Yeah, i read it somewhere.

there were a few songs with different possible titles.

for example, "now my feet won't touch the ground" became strawberry swing.

yeah, heard about that one, i think it was on wikicoldplaying

it's supposed to be march isn't it? or may? it begins with "M" anyways. lol

Yeah, I read March somewhere, and I thought it made sense - that's the end of awards season. I can't see the record company releasing anything else while there's Brits & Grammys up for grabs for VLVODAAHF.

And if it is essentially "the leftovers" of the Eno stuff, there wouldn't be any sense in holding on to it for too long after the initial release.

Whenever it comes, can't be soon enough!

Here it is. Sorry for some grammar/vocabulary mistakes! :)

Coldplay hurry with recording of the new album

Was there really so many good songs left from recording of Viva La Vida, or does the band want to leave its current record company?

One of the best British alternative celebrities, Coldplay, have announced releasing a new album early in the following year. Their move is rather surprising, because their last album Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends was released only about two months ago. It is very successful and has surpassed quite a few records, and so their rush is not to be sought in commercial failure.

The reason for this extremely surprising and unusual move, that the British reporters found out from sources close to EMI, is supposed to be a great deal of good material left from recording for the album Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends. It is said the band got along well with their producer, Brian Eno, with whom they supposingly created many excellent songs that could not find their place on Viva La Vida.

Many say that the real reason for the rush is the bands wish to part from their current record company EMI as soon as possible. If Coldplay released one more studio album and one compilation, they would complete their commitment to it. The whole matter is pretty delicate because Coldplay are currently the best selling artists of EMI.

The news of the band’s collaboration with Australian pop diva, Kylie Minogue, only reinforces the band’s hurry with recording their new album. Chris Martin, Coldplay’s frontman, has confirmed they will record a song with this singer. He has added that it could be found on their new album that would be released the following year.

interesting....

hmm, just "early" then? i feel like "early" can mean march, which could mean that this is just delayed picking-up of chris's comment saying that they want to release an EP in march. i guess that this could just be old news slightly skewed by reporters too.

i'm trying to not get my hopes up too much, but it's hard when this involves coldplay and new music!

If this is actually true, I don't know....maybe it's too soon. VLVOD just came out and I don't want them to really spill everything out just yet....

I've just found the article I was talking about earlier ... it doesn't say anything different but they included an EMI representative. "They have recorded material and not all of it could be placed in VLV. The majority of material for the new album has been already recorded, but they'll still have to return to the studio for some more songs."

If there's another album in January, they can promote only one single more off VLV, probably Lost! or Lovers in Japan. Anyway, I read different news: an Ep in March, a new album in summer, a greatest hits in late 2009... IMO coldplay are sill deciding and nothing is sure
