they're one of the few bands that i can forgive for sounding exactly the same on every damn song they've ever written, just because they're so much fun.

New track "Rock & Roll Train" sounds like good old-fashioned, in-yer-face AC/DC. Def looking forward to the new album and tour. Which, btw, I just got tix for. Floor Section 5, Row 10. Noice1!

How many songs do AC/DC have? 2 maybe? Its all the same to me.

allrighty then :whatever:

Lets not abuse people for having different opinions on music

AC/DC have some classics, but I just can't take them seriously as a band

Who's abusing? I said whatever.

I understand they're not everyone's cup of tea. But they are one of rock's greatest bands ever.

From wiki:

AC/DC have sold more than 200 million albums worldwide,[5] including 69 million albums in the US.[6] Back in Black has sold an estimated 42 million units worldwide[7] and 22 million in the US alone,[8] making it the fifth highest-selling album ever in the US. AC/DC ranked fourth on VH1's list of the "100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock"[9] and the seventh "Greatest Heavy Metal Band Of All Time" by MTV.[10] In 2004, the band was ranked number 72 in the Rolling Stone list of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time.

That doesnt mean anything. Just that they can write catchy tunes. Right now AC/DC and Dylan are coming to town. I'd rather see Dylan a million times over. AC/DC is all power rock in the key of A.

Musically very simple. Fun, but nothing super special.

:laugh3: that doesnt mean theyre not simple and terrible

lets admit the only reason AC/DC are making new music (and i use that term very loosely) is because they know theres millions of dollars out there for them to earn by touring and releasing an album. being australian its mandatory i listen to and love the band but theyre doing nothing but destroying there reputation with making songs like Rock n Roll Train.

^Well at least it's better than Stiff Upper Lip, lol.

To be honest I don't really care for their later/new stuff, I'm just going to hear them rock out the classics. I've been going to concerts since 1979 and have seen everybody from Alanis to ZZ Top but never AC/DC. If you were a kid growing up in the 80s (yeah I'm old) and listened to metal or rock, you would most likely dig them. But otherwise, prolly not so much.

#42 reports from the first European shows

Manneheim's soundcheck begins with Will at the piano. He has a beautiful, simple melody which floats in the arena echo to give a very atmospheric soundtracky feel. Guy joins in as Chris picks up Jonny's guitar to give his pedalboard a try. Jonny arrives and quite reasonably decides he may as well play drums. I really hope this evolves into a new song. The soundcheck rolls on with an impromptu jam on Back In Black. I have no idea where the band's current AC/DC fixation comes from, although I'm looking squarely towards stage right where Jonny's guitar tech Matt McGinn is no doubt grinning broadly. The rockier feel continues as old In My Place B-side The One I Love comes off the shelf for a play.

hmm...:inquisitive:

Everyone is doing a comeback now. Its weird???

I feel like that with U2, But I havent fully got into ACDC

Yeah with only 200 million albums sold I'm sure they could use a few extra mill.

^^

i just dont quite understand why these old classic bands bother making new music when they could do a huge world tour and maintain their reputation without releasing any new music. The Eagles toured for 15years with no album to support and made millions. Reunion doesnt have to equal new album. look at the Police and Van Halen (who may or may not make a new album)

I agree about old bands releasing new music, it's just not necessary. But AC/DC never broke up so I don't believe this is a reunion tour. They were just on hiatus for seven years. So, since they've always been a band, they're gonna continue to do what bands do, make music and tour. Maybe they wrote new material to keep things fresh and interesting, to them at the very least.

P.S. Even without a new album or Michael Anthony the VH show was tight. :guitarist:
