There are so many non-members visiting this place at the mo because of the leak, I'd hate to think of the PO Box being abused.

Apologies if I'm coming across as really cynical

No, i really think you're completely right..........

The PObox' purpose is to receive the postards only, we don't want it to become a burdain for Debs, or make her regret her desition to help us on this proyect.........

I totally agree that the address should be sent in a safe way, not just posted in the thread......

EDIT:

All of you should work for Coldplay the next tour....:wink3:

Which reminds me, I had a brief fantasy that Coldplay did a special concert

only for the members of this forum. If only...!

I love your thinking!!!!!!!

Hi!!

Then, where will you put the address? Will you send us a private message with the address?

BYE!!!!!

how easy would it be to pm multiple people? that'd be a safe way of getting it to those who won't take advantage.

or making a private thread?

..we could always get on inventing a super special top secret coldplaying.com code language.

:P

since there are many people involved.. I don't know if sending the po box address in a private way would work... maybe it'd work for the coldplaying members.. but from what I know there's people from other local coldplay sites involved too.. it's a good idea anyway :)

we'll send a letter to debs.. we can tell her that the purpose is only about sending postcards so another things as demos or anything shouldn't be sent to the boys

Great idea!!;)

I think some threads can be made as "just for members" by Ian or any of hte administrators or moderators.. but I didnt know there were also members of another communities!

again, if somebody can help me with how to print the postcard without have to glue it, I will say thanks a lot! hehe

I don't know about how to print the postcard

anyway.. as far as I know, only the multimedia section is available just to members... anyway.. I think that if more people is involved there should be one person who will make sure to let the people from their community/site will know about this..

for example... here in chile there's a fan club.. so I'll tell the address to the people who wants to send a postcards... I bet marco will do the same in argentina and etc...

Well I think you can go to any office store and buy card paper and put it directly into the printer. Im not sure if you will have to change the set up of your printer for it though. Hope that helps at least a bit:D

^ exactly, that's what I did. cardstock works really well ..even note cards (but cardstock is a bit nicer - no lines etc) printers have different settings, but there should be one that says something like 'cardstock' or 'postcard'. if not, the photo paper setting is good, even better if there's a 'matte photo' setting.

/end geekiness

that's a good idea about putting the address somewhere in the multimedia section. it should be easy enough to let the other parts of this project know, while still keeping the info safe on here.

and also, eeeee :nice:

the multimedia section isn't members only, unless the policy has changed. before i was a member here, i used that section exclusively to download b-sides. then one day i had a question so i signed up here to post it, and the rest is history. :D

i don't think we should worry too much about the PO box. of course there's the tendancy to abuse it, but the next time lore and i talk to her we'll ask her to get rid of anything that's not obviously part of the project. there will always be that risk, so i don't really think we should worry ourselves over it. my plan was to post the address in this thread and in the rules and guidelines thread once we got it, then ask ian to put up semy's banner advertising the project. we don't think it's possible for ian to PM every member of the board, but it IS possible for him to email them, we're pretty sure. i plan to ask him if that would be a good course of action :D.

i'm sad that we didn't get the address today, but i also knew it. if she doesn't send it along by monday afternoon EST, we're asking her again

and about printing the card: you can just try printing on both sides, as said above. but what i did is just print the back and the front seperately. i'm going to paste them together and then cover them in protective plastic so they don't get smudged :D.

Contact plastic!!!

Yeah, i'm using that in mines aswell :D

contact plastic? is that what it's called? i never knew! i tend to call it "sticky plastic" :P. i tend to mess it up when i put it on stuff, though :\

i'm going to write in the rules and guidelines thread underneath the space for the address that only postcards will be accepted at this address, and that everything else will be disregarded, so don't even think about it :P.

In Mexico we call it "Papel contact" <Contact paper>........ which i find weird coz is plastic, not paper..... :P

no address yet, but we anticipate it soon

in the first post, i added a paragraph about how debs will ONLY ACCEPT POSTCARDS RELATED TO THE PROJECT at this address. no packages, parcels, large envelopes, demos, or anything other than POSTCARDS will be seen by the band. keep in mind that debs has gone out of her way to set up this P.O. box for us for the project only, and that in order to maintain a good relationship with her and for things like this to work well in the future, we can't abuse her kindness. there is another address for everything else to be sent to which would work just as well, since debs is only dropping off the postcards to the guys. so, don't even think about sending anything but un-enveloped postcards .

You tell 'em, girl! Woo, Chelsea's kicking butt (has the Ambassador title gone to her head already??? :P)

By the way, we call it "sticky-back plastic" in the UK

(I know you don't need to know that, but isn't it lovely when we share?)

ok, i posted something up there in the thread. its very wordy, but i hope it gets the point across. i just think no matter where we put the address (unless we ONLY email it, which i think is a bit unfair to others that might want to send cards and has a huge chance of getting some people left out), we're going to run the risk of other things being sent there. i think as long as we make it clear that this address is only for the project (meaning un-enveloped postcards), it's the best we can do. :D

there's an official fanmail address, which is escaping my mind at the moment, but i can get it to you if you'd like. i was thinking about putting that one in the first post, but inevitably, people would get confused about which one of the two addresses to send to

Didn't get notification of PO Box number as promised today. I will call them on Monday to find out why and hopefully they will let me know the address then.....

Hold off sending them 'til then.

Thank you so much Debs for your support in this, we really appreciate it!

Hope to hear for you soon again about the PO Box:D
