Chris Martin reveals band's live plans

Coldplay are set to play a huge gig at Knebworth, most likely during summer 2009.

Frontman Chris Martin revealed the band's plan to play in the grounds of Knebworth House on Zane Lowe's show on BBC Radio 1 last night (October 16).

Although no arrangements have been finalised, Martin hinted that that the band were currently in negotiations to book the site.

"We're trying to book a place that rhymes with Blebworth. We realised there's a lot of people who don't like us in Britain but, you know, they don't have to come," he said.

Martin also told the station that the band aren't aiming to beat Robbie Williams' three-night run at the venue in 2003, which saw an estimated 375,000 fans attend.

"We're not gonna do three [nights], Robbie did three. We'd be happy with one. Then the next day can be some kind of caravan conference."

Oasis played two nights, on 10 and 11 August 1996, at the venue, which has also seen gigs by The Rolling Stones, Queen and Led Zeppelin.

Coldplay are set to release a new single, 'Lost!' on November 10, and an EP of new material, 'Prospekts March' on November 24.

If there are enough people from Germany/France/Belgium/Holland interested, maybe we could organise a "car share" and head over together by tunnel or ferry.;)

Whenever, from anywhere, no way I won't come !!! It would be soooo great =D

When I went from NYC for the Silver Clef Award Winners Show.. it was booked as a rock tour and we had a whole Virgin plane for our group of rockers... it was pretty wild and stayed at the same hotel in London. Then we had busses waiting in morning to take us to Knebworth, at around 8 in the morning. It was about 45 minutes to get there. Then we walked about a mile from the busses parking to venue. It started at noon and stopped at midnight. Wet clothes and muddy shoes and all. We didn't get back to hotel in London til 6 am in the morning cause we had to wait for everyone to return to busses and all the busses to leave together. What an experience! I almost got lost there twice when I went to bathroom each time cause there was too many people and I had to look for a flag that between the sound towers. But I realized there were many flags there... so I kept walking around in circles til I found my group... they actually spotted me and were screaming! But yes, it was one festival I will never forget! :)

I love your idea to travel together, Mark!

But if planes will still be cheap at the time of the event, I'd prefer to travel by plane...

We could still all meet in London and go together from there?

But if a coach / car ride will be organised, I think I'd be with you guys rather than travelling on my own.

This will / would be so much fun!!!

It's most likely to be in the summer, right?

aaawww Knebworth :) I might come to Europe, I need to visit my family anyway

What playing a gig at knebworth house where loud music has been banned due to worries the sound waves might cause to the house itself?

But assuming it doesn't clash with glastonbury or end of the road, count me in ;)

I hope i can get Tickets too, woud be so great. only Problem i`ve got, i have no Friends listening to Coldplay, everbody is into Blackmusic. So i need to confince sombody, becourse it isnt that much fun alone:confused:
