^Haha dont be too catty here, we all respect evryones opinion and he declared it. He's got a side to his story... remember Schumi was really arrogant back in Hill and Cena days and everyone hated him for that.

Entertaining race thanks to the weather. Good to see Button winning it which means more air time for Jessica Michibata. :)

Rosberg has done really well so far hopefully he keeps it up.

Has Hamilton gone bonkers, going wheel to wheel with Vettel while exiting the pitlane.

^ I kinda agree you have to have respect for the guy hes a legend...... how he made it there is what matters not what he is today.... and its still the start so hes got to prove himself still but otherwise hes still a legend and no one can take tat away from him....he will be glorified from years to come..

Remember Villeneuve's comeback?

Everyone seemed to have forgotten that the guy won the World Championship in his second season.

I can't stand him because he hasn't exactly shown good sportsmanship but you've gotta admit that he's an outstanding driver.

He may well have been, but today proved once again that he's well past his sell-by date.

He used to be able to dominate in such weather conditions, but in today's race everyone whizzed past him.

He should throw in the towel before his reputation is irreparably damaged.;)

Button and Hamilton, on the other hand, both drove superbly. Brit drivers rule!!:smug:

British RULE! haha, Yeah Or Maybe Its Schumi's Car;)

I thought it had already been decided earlier that the car had had very little to do with his success in the past? Well if that's the case, the car can't be used as an excuse now. You can't have it both ways.

The fact he drove so badly in the wet conditions had nothing to do with the car as far as I could tell.:dozey:

Yeah I agree, Its all bout skill now since they removed the Pit stop strategy 'thingy' and Its all bout' skill:cool:, No more team dominance as its clearly seen over the last few races that their have been many various winners...and not the same all the time

British RULE! haha, Yeah Or Maybe Its Schumi's Car;)

I know it's a week later but Schumacher drive last week was hampered purely by the car. The set up was clearly wrong on the car as he had severe problems trying to get grip exiting corners. But the big issue for Schumacher is these slick tyres. He just isn't used to them unlike his fellow drivers who have been driving on them for over a year now. We've seen a couple of big errors in which Schumacher has misjudged the tyres in Australia and Malaysia qualifying. The tyres have an understeer quality to them which the old grooved tyres Michael used to race on never did. And we all know Schumacher loved driving his car aggressively with the front end of the car producing a bit of oversteer (unlike Hamilton who prefers the rear end of his car to oversteer) while the rear tyres clung on for grip maximising his speed. Schumacher is thus having to radically change the set up on his car to compromise for these front slick tyres which as we've seen has brought little success yet. Plus he is driving a car designed around Jenson Button's smooth style from data from last year, which is the opposite to Schumacher's style, so that isn't helping either. He'll no doubt get better as he learns more about these tyres and the team are able to provide a car to him which suits his style.

Alonso in Monaco? Thought he got 5th and to be fair, it was with the massive help of the safety cars.

Yes, I was mistaken, he got 5th, but it´s true, he made a great race, he´s a brave driver.

I don´t care where he´s from, cause I like other drivers too: Vettel, Hamilton, Kubica...

Alonso might be in trouble as he keeps blowing up engines, I think i read somewhere that he's already used up half of the engines allowed this year, so what will happen when it comes to the later part of the season and he blows his last engine...

...but as it's Ferrari, the FIA will bend the rule-book and allow them to have extra engines, any other team and it will be "tough"

  • 3 weeks later...

^ yeah lcuk isnt on his side, It must be the engineer's fault alonso, just wants to push and do his best well, unfortunately his car cant handle it, hes a great driver btw his engine sucks only and cant handle him

Another win for Hammy

Another victory for "team Britain" too.

Rule Britannia, Britannia rules the race.......................... :smug:

Hamilton this season has been stunning. He really is maturing as a racing driver and if he carries on like this he will be unbeatable. Kept his cool in a straight fight with his nemesis Alonso - well done Lewis!

Meanwhile, Schumacher continues to disappoint.................................

Michael Schumacher escapes Felipe Massa penalty

It was an incident-packed race - Schumacher

Mercedes driver Michael Schumacher will not be punished for his part in an incident with Ferrari's Felipe Massa during the Canadian Grand Prix.

The seven-time champion was referred to the stewards after he made contact with Massa near the end of the race.

The incident damaged the front of Massa's car, with the Brazilian needing to come in for a new front wing.

Renault's Robert Kubica and Toro Rosso driver Jaime Alguersuari were handed reprimands for two separate incidents.

Kubica was reprimanded for "a dangerous entry to the pits" while Alguersuari was referred to the stewards following his collision with Williams driver Rubens Barrichello.

Schumacher and Massa were battling with six laps to go when the German appeared to cut across the Ferrari as he returned to the racing line at Turn 12.

Smedley on Schumacher incident

The back of the Mercedes clipped the front of the Ferrari, knocking Massa's front wing, with the Brazilian having to take evasive action and briefly going across the run-off area.

Mercedes team boss Ross Brawn, speaking before the ruling, defended his driver.

"Michael didn't have a lot of grip, he was on tyres that were very badly grained, so I'm not aware of anything unusual that happened," added Brawn.

"It might be true that he braked much earlier than Felipe was expecting, but that was the point at which Michael, with the tyres he had, had to brake.

"I don't think there was any malice in what happened."

Ferrari engineer Rob Smedley said: "I think that Michael had to possibly brake a little bit early as his tyres were not great - much earlier than Felipe was expecting and he drove into the back of him."

It was not the only incident involving Schumacher in the race, as the German also went wheel-to-wheel with Kubica when coming out of the pits on lap 13.

"The first stop was perfectly timed, so it was looking quite promising," said Schumacher, who ended up in 11th place.

"Then I had a puncture on the front right tyre after I got together with Kubica, and that obviously decided my race."

In a race that was decided on tyre strategy, Brawn said the Kubica incident proved costly as Schumacher had to pit again two laps later.

This was McLaren's second one-two in as many races and suddenly a world championship that only two races ago looked in danger of becoming a Red Bull benefit is fizzing with competition and uncertainties

"It was a shame because he got out in front of Kubica, and was looking OK," added Brawn.

"But we could see from the data he had a right front puncture and it was correct, because when we called the car in there was a slash on the tyre.

"Because of the puncture we got out of phase with the tyres, and we took a chance on whether the option [softer] tyre would last, and obviously it didn't.

"It was a pretty optimistic move, but we figured if we went for another pit stop after that then we weren't going to get there."

It compounded a miserable weekend for Schumacher, who was overtaken at the very end by the Force India duo of Vitantonio Liuzzi and Adrian Sutil to finish out of the points.

Apart from a retirement in Malaysia and ending up 12th in Monaco after being penalised 20 seconds for an illegal overtaking move, this was his worst result of the season.

Highlights - Canadian Grand Prix

The 41-year-old, back in the sport after three years in retirement, also had his worst qualifying session of the campaign and started 13th on the grid.

Schumacher's team-mate Nico Rosberg ended up in sixth place in an incident-packed race after qualifying in 10th.

"Sixth place was probably the best result that we could have achieved today, so I'm pretty happy," said Rosberg.

"It's been a difficult weekend with a poor qualifying performance yesterday due to the tyres not working properly and I was unlucky on the first lap today to lose so many places from the chaos in front of me."

Schumacher was running well until that confrontation with Kubica. Was running in 5th in the first stint.

However, he himself has now admitted his comeback has been "a flop".;)

Did he really say that? Where's the quote? It may not have started the way he wanted there's been a few races where he's shown his quality.

Ferrari doing their trick of giving team orders again.

But then again it's Ferrari so they are allowed to do whatever they like

Should have disqualified them and barred them from the next race.

$100,000 is loose change to them. And an insult to the sport.

No wonder I don't watch it any more.
