if thats his first mistake all year. why isnt he coming first in the championship?

I thought it was of the general opinion that the McLaren was clearly not the fastest car out there bar a couple of tracks this year. Also him getting punted by Webber in two races this season has hardly helped him. Oh and if he hadn't retired from Hungary and Spain with reliability issues he'd be leading this championship.

As for the title Webber is doing good again. Hellishly lucky but that's what you've got to be to win it. He'll have to watch Alonso though and Hamilton who still isn't out of this. Only an idiot would rule a driver of his skill out!

you're most probably right. but Hamilton cant hide behind the failures of his team because he is a part of that team. on the surface F1 may seem like an individual sport but it is very much a team sport. Webber is on top of the championship ladder because his team has provided him the best car (second best to Vettel actually) and the right strategies.

Button laughs off Coldplay confusion

SUZUKA (JAPAN): Formula One world champion Jenson Button knows plenty of good tracks but he was taken aback when a confused fan recently mixed him up with a global rock star.

"I had an American come up to me at the Heathrow airport, a few months back saying that she and her family are big fans of mine," the Briton said in a light-hearted moment at the rain-hit Japanese Grand Prix.

"After I thanked her saying I did not know that Formula One was so big in America, she said they've got all my records and all my albums." Button added. On being asked about his reply to it he said " I said, Fantastic. you think I'm Chris Martin, don't you? and she exclaimed 'Are you not?' And I said ' No, I am Jenson Button. I race in Formula One cars'."

Chris Martin, husband of Hollywood movie star Gwyneth Paltrow, is the singer-songwriter frontman for big-selling British band 'Coldplay' and also comes from south-west England like the 30-year-old McLaren driver.

A perceived resemblance between the two men has been highlighted on several lookalike websites.

Button is no stranger to admirers getting his name wrong, however, with his close entourage sometimes teasingly referring to him as Jason Burton after similarly confused encounters.

Red Bull driver Sebastian Vettel brilliantly led from start to finish at Suzuka to win the Japanese Grand Prix.

His team-mate Mark Webber was second, with Fernando Alonso third for Ferrari.

What a dull race. Apart from the first couple of corners and Hamilton's gearbox problems, nothing really happened.

Button's tyre tactics failed to pay off, and the race ended up as a procession at the front, with no challenges at all.:dozey:

good result for webber. he now has a decent lead in the championship of 14 points so if he can win at least one of the 3 remaining races i think he would have it wrapped up. but thats easier said than done.

The Red Bulls dominated far too easily for my liking. It was a total non-contest.

I hope this isn't the shape of things to come, for the sake of the sport.:dozey:

Doesn't red bull give the cars wings? No wonder they keep winning!

Or winging?

In other news Jorge Lorenzo was crowned 2010 Moto GP champion today, with Valentino Rossi winning the race, you know that racing on 2 wheels when people actually fight and overtake and not base it on how many times their going to stop for fuel:P.

blah blah blah :P

Haha good point Stratocaster. I follow F1 but the idea of watching an entire race is worse then shooting myself.

The worst thing about it is that for some reason in those cars on those tracks it's impossible to gauge how fast they're going, they can be going around a tight corner at 120mph but it looks like they're going 30mph.

I guess I can appreciate the engineering and talent behind it but the races are so long and boring and who wins can really be a matter of who puts fuel in at the right time and there isn't nearly enough overtaking and real racing, which is what it should be about.

That's why I like Moto GP, 45 minute long race tops and constant fights and position changes(most of the time) with no fuel stops, no radios and no team orders, it's far more interesting to watch to me.

BTW my name's Katie:)
