The Best Album Ever?

Featured Replies

What do YOU think is the Best Album Ever Made?

I'll get the ball rolling by saying A Hard Days Night - The Beatles

But I may have to go back on that!!!

Personally I think, Radiohead – Ok Computer

Coldplay – A Rush Of Blood To The Head

Pink Floyd – Piper At The Gates Of Dawn

But there's too many good artists out there, which I dont appreciate enough, massive attack, aphex twin, led zepplin, stevie wonder, stone roses etc.

Yeah I agree with AROBTTH

To make a Short list mine would have to be

AROBTTH - Coldplay

A Hard Days Night - The Beatles

The Bends - Radiohead

Be Here Now - Oasis

Hatful of Hollow - The Smiths

Urban Hymns - The Verve

Thats just personal taste though obviously

The Bends what an album.

What a Truth!

What a Star you Are

Best, while being unbiased...is split between two albums respectively:

Highway 61 Revisited, Bob Dylan

St. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band, The Beatles

With U2's, Achtung Baby is 3rd.

do I sound repetitive if I sat A RUSH OF BLOOD TO THE HEAD ?

a hard days night... hmmm interesting choice.

for me it is hands down "Abbey Road"-The Beatles

Coldplay - Rush of Blood or X&Y

The Smiths - Meat Is Murder or Louder Than Bombs

for me it's Pink Floyd - The Dark Side Of The Moon.

@ Thompson and General Smut : I don't think the Best of The Smiths and Hatful Of Hollow can be considered albums. They're compilations.

Im not into the old music but i think British makes exceptionally amazing music back then and even today..... Viva la vida i think is coldplays best so far..........

I'm probably going to get attacked for this, but I mean it.

The Killers: Day & Age. Phenominal.

Too many to name just one

Pink Floyd-Dark Side of the Moon

My Bloody Valentine-Loveless

Lou Reed-Transformer

Kraftwerk-Trans-Europe Express

U2-The Joshua Tree

This will probably change over time.

I'm totally not into old music, so:

* U2 - The Joshua Tree

* The Verve - Urban Hymns

* Radiohead - OK Computer / The Bends

You do hold a fair point there,

So I'd have to say The Smiths - The Smiths

or Rank, but since that's a Live album, I dunno if that counts either!

i'm gonna stick to albums that ive experienced the impact of ie albums that have come out while ive been a music fan

Elephant - White Stripes

What People Say...- Arctic Monkeys

S/T- Wolfmother

In Rainbows - Radiohead

Neon Bible - Arcade Fire

Late Registration - Kanye West

No order but here are a few I think are very good.

Prince - Purple Rain

Fleetwood Mac - Rumors

Tracy Chapman - Tracy Chapman

The Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream

Alanis Morisette - Jagged Little Pill

NIN - Downward Spiral

Queen - A Night At The Opera

The Beatles - Abby Road

Pink Floyd - The Wall

Simon & Garfunkle - Greatest Hits

Coldplay - Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends

REM - Automatic For The People

U2 - The Joshua Tree

The Verve - Urban Hymns

The National - The Boxer

Depeche Mode - Violator

The Cure - Disintegration

OK I said a few... I LOVE MUSIC! I could go on forever

I think you meant Queen - A Night At The Opera

Wonderful album, actually my favourite from them

THE WHO - Quadrophenia

also pretty much anything radiohead has done from the bends on...

coldplay - viva la vida or death and all his friends

snow patrol - final straw

I'd never have the balls to declare a best album of all-time, I consider myself to have a pretty narrow musical spectrum, but the three best albums I have experienced myself would be The Joshua Tree, O.K. Computer and AROBTTH.

For me, the best album hands down has to be Sigur Ros ( ). First of all its definitely a grower, it went from meaning absolutely nothing to me, to meaning everything. Those are the best albums for me, the ones that build up and take forever to enjoy, but then it's majestic once you enjoy it.
