Hmm..I'm undecided myself, but there are several songs on here which are just amazing;

 

1) Prospekt's March, wow. This song is just so calming, soothing, introspective, and beautiful.

 

2) Rainy Day, wow. This is so different, yet has the underpinnings of 2008 Coldplay--the strings pay omage to VLV and it is just an amazing. I was least looking forward to this song and now it is one of my favorites.

 

3) Life in Technicolor ii: do I even need to say anything here? It's billiant. As evidence I suggest you listen to it 1000x on repeat haha.

 

4) Glass of Water: Exciting, fast paced song.

 

I mean, these 4 songs are better than a handful on VLV and I'll be listening to them for some time to come...

Dude, I LOVE PM, but let's get back down to earth.

 

Viva la Vida > any album Coldplay's ever made, yes, even AROBTH.

I'm torn...there are definitely songs on PM that I enjoy more than songs on VLV

 

As far as I'm concerned the only song on VLV that really outdoes anything on PM is 42, and even then I'm not sure if 42 > Prospekt's March/Poppyfields...or if that is even a fair comparison since they're so different.

 

At the end of the day I probably think VLV as an album is better than PM, for sure. But there are definitely songs on PM which are quite amazing and blow songs on VLV out of the water...

1. VLV

2. AROBTH

3. X&Y

Prospekt's March is IMO the best EP released, but I wouldn't put it above AROBTH or VLV, it could probably overtake X&Y though, which is decent.

Meh, I took Lost+ and LiJ Osaka off the EP. It has a much better flow to it now that the two singles are gone.

now, I'm gonna have to disagree with you. VLV is an album, it is more well-rounded. However, I like how Coldplay stepped out of the box a little bit for this EP.

I'd disagree, I think VLV is much better, has more quality songs (Violet Hill, Cemeteries, Death And All His Friends are all better than any song on prospekt's march).

for heaven's sake people, Prospekt's march is 4 songs. It's not an album, and it can't be compared to the coldplay albums. It's pretty shallow to believe an album (or E.P.) is better because your favorite song is on it...

plus VLV cd is a masterpiece. the EP is just a... few colors added. (some not necessary in my opinion - rainy day)

i really consider them two parts of a whole, so i don't really think one can be better than the other.

1) Prospekts march is not an album

2) Lost + is awful, I mean lost! is not a good song at all, but then you add 20 seconds of rap to the strongest part of the song -Johnny's solo-, what's the result? I guess you know

3) Lovers in japan remix is just the same

4) Prospekts march is shorter

5) Both are great, but you can't compare them

i love pm, but i dont think it is considered better only because vlv is a full album and a genious masterpiece. dont get me wrong because pm is just as genious, it's just hard to compare an album and an ep.

I don't think we can really judge yet at this point... We need to wait for it all the sink in. And like others said, PM is just an EP. People here are treating it like it's an album, calling it "too short" and whatnot.

Me too. I hate it so much. I'll never understand why they decided to make a version with rap. It kind of ruined the album version for me. Acoustic version > all the others. Seriously, Lost+ is so damn terrible that I turned the volume all the way down when the rap came on.

 

I would have really preferred it if they left Lovers and Lost off the EP, but whatever, I love the new songs so far personally (though I cannot truly judge yet, I need to wait for that) so it's not a tragedy.

You're completely right, I can just skip it. I'm not one of those people saying the song made the whole EP worse, that doesn't really make sense to me. I consider Lovers and Lost kind of separate from the other songs on the EP and I don't mind skipping them. I just kinda felt like expressing my distaste for the song.

The song definitely should have been the album.
