I think he was probably drunk on the devil's drink, Stella, it seemed to be a common theme of bad experiences with him. Since now they do a runner post gig, he has no time to get drunk enough to be mean. :P

Hehe. Poor Guy.

Although he did actually used to be quite mean to fans. 2002-2003 era :uhoh:

I have actually heard these stories about Guy as well.

I try to use this as my guide:

1. Good/Kind people have bad days.

2. Bad/Mean people have good days.

3. It's only by having several experiences with these people that a true pattern emerges.

I have had nothing but really good experiences with Guy, and this dates back to the Twisted Logic Tour (so slightly after 2002-2003).

I remember meeting him backstage after a show. He was leaving the after party and was taking a few snacks for the road (they looked like "Bagel Bites," but I'm sure they weren't). Anyhow, I hit him up, and he was as friendly as could be. In fact, he was balancing one of the Bagel Bites in his mouth so his hands were free to sign my item (I think it was a Rolling Stone cover). The reason I mention this story is because musicians who are not fan friendly will use any excuse to avoid interaction.

The article also listed Eddie Vedder as one of the worst signers. I am here to tell you that Eddie is hit and miss. AGAIN, it all depends on the circumstances.

Sorry if these stories bore people, but I have a million of them.

I guess I've been lucky to meet him recently then, because he had absolutely no problem to take a pic and was smiling a lot (maybe because I made a fool of myself with the Crests of Waves banner :P).

I think it was probably a bad period for him back then, there is a MuchMusic episode around that time where he was really sad or whatnot, I mean I don't think we can judge someone just because he's not been nice with fans on some occasions, and all of them where more or less in the same period, anyone can have bad days, the only problem with him (or with any other band member) is that he's a public person and we expect him to always be nice with everyone.

I would really like to know who among us never had a bad period..it's human :)

I can understand how those fans were disappointed about his behaviour, but everything should be put into the right context, and the fact he's been nice with other fans proves it was just a bad period he had..in my opinion.

What happened at the Much Music thing?

There was a magazine that had been following Coldplay on their press tour and had been at the Much Music recording in 2002 and had said Guy had been upset and was receiving hugs off various band members throughout the show.

Re: Guy's bad behaviour. Everyone goes through horrible times, it's how you deal with it that's the key. I don't believe taking it out on others is the right way to deal with things, having a bad day is no excuse for blowing smoke in someone's face, IMO. However rarely it may happen

That being said, there's been nothing but lovely things said about him since so I guess that was a stage in his life he's got over :D

Not boring at all. Keep going. Who else have you met? Just musicians?

1. I have met pretty much every big name in music.

2. It's probably better to P.M. me if you have any particular questions. Not everyone loves these stories and some of them are far from flattering. I jumped in on this one b/c it was about experiences with Coldplay, and I have had several.
