The "Awards Season" Thread

Featured Replies

We are right in the middle of "Awards Season" which is my absolute favorite time of the year. The Golden Globes, The SAG Awards, The Grammys, The BAFTAs, The Academy Awards... I love them all... and I thought I would start this thread as a place to come and discuss all of these awards shows.

Tonight were the Golden Globes... and they were amazing. I'll start off this "Awards Discussion" Thread by posting this video..

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=efz6FtmvhJ8&fmt=18]YouTube - Kate Winslet WINS the Golden Globe for Best Actress Drama[/ame]

My absolute favorite acceptance speech of the night. Kate Winslet seriously deserved to win. Revolutionary Road was amazing, and I was so upset that Leo didn't win in his category. Well hopefully he will get nominated for an Oscar.. because his performance was truly outstanding. :D

i like kate winslet even if i haven't seen the film yet.. what's the story about?

Thanks for starting this thread... I LOVE awards season!!!

The films, the competition, the dresses!!!

Most people looked gorgeous last night, hardly any disasters for the fashion police to investigate.

Good on you HFP for FINALLY recognising how awesome Kate Winslet is... bring on the oscar!!!

yay awards season! :nice:

i was so happy for kate winslet last night--i'm seeing revolutionary road tomorrow, but i love her anyway and was so happy she won. and her acceptance speeches were adorable!

and 30 Rock won THREE golden globes! that's my favorite show on TV, and I'm so glad they won

Ahhh awards season. Bring out the bubbly!

Last night's awards were awesome. I'm really glad that 30 Rock won, though I never doubted that it would.

Anyone seen Slumdog Millionaire yet? I've been meaning to see that.

^My mum saw that yesterday, she likes it but her taste is terrible so I dont know what to tell you:laugh3:

I'm just wading through the hours of coverage now.

Have to say, I feel very proud to be a Brit. We did really well last night, and they made some great speeches.

Wish Entourage had won something, I love that show!!!

that was my favorite acceptance speech too :nice: i love kate!

i love the awards season, especially the grammy's ;)

The Golden Globes started off funny. When J Lo came out the audience basically ignored her and she had to get them to be quiet. :laugh3:

Yes I have.. it was brilliant. I really liked it. I have a feeling that it will do really well at the Academy Awards... and might even win Best Picture :wacky:

idk, I really hope Rev Road wins a lot of stuff too. I know I keep rambling on about that movie, but it was my favorite of the year. As long as Leo and Kate (& Sam Mendes, director) get their oscars I'll be happy

I am determined to keep this thread alive!! :D

The Academy Award nominations come out in less than 12 hours!! who else is excited??

After Kate Blanchett didn't win anything for her role in I'm Not There I decided I don't give a shit about awards

Cate Blanchett did win the Golden Globe (Best Supporting Actress) for I'm Not There. :)

But she should have taken everything else, too...

See I wrote "Cate" and then thought to myself "that looks wrong..." so I changed it, silly me

I was mainly referring to the oscars, there are too many awards to keep up with
