Why Viva La Vida wasn't as good as AROBTTH

Featured Replies

Well then, since we are implying things, I'll imply that U2's new song is still not good to my ears and can be beaten, again in my ears, by Viva la Vida any day of the week.

I'll also imply that 2008 wasn't just some fluke and that Coldplay haven't reached their peak yet while 'talent' filled U2 are slowing down.

.

i know.. to me that new U2 song SUCKS!...I really expected more for the 1st single and Ya i agree U2 is slowing down.

I suppose it just depends on your perspective. The guy who posted earlier was obviously a hardcore U2 fan and would say coldplay was better then them for any reason even if coldplay did do something better. I say we should compare bands but just love them for what they do. many people take what there favourite bands should and shouldn't do for granted or get angry at them because they didnt write music they liked or wasnt like their previous material. I say that if you just accept that it is all good music then you will be a much more positive critic. Look at the good point and not the bad. That Bryce, signing off.

I will agree it is very different. it wouldv'e been worse though if they named it sexy boots.

I happen to agree that AROBTTH is Coldplay's best work, but, for me, songs like Violet Hill and Viva la Vida are still very much about love and loss of the most personal forms.

agreed

I am probably on my own in ranking AROBTTH as 3rd best album, and Parachutes 4th, but that's beside the point.

I agree that AROBTTH and Parachutes are probably the best albums lyrically, but I think the sound of X&Y and VLV at times is unrivalled. Yes, Yellow and The Scientist are as good as Coldplay have got musically, but I think the music on X&Y and VLV is more consistent. Consistently brilliant, that is.

For me, Parachutes is their best. It has great lyrics, great music, very honest and simple, which makes it have an strong feeling.

I feel the closest to A rush of blood maybe only bc thats when i first fell in love with them. And bc of the whole Tour Diary and live DVD i felt more connected to that tour even tho i never saw them live back then. But seriously, Viva was amzing and it was dif. but every single coldplay album has to be a bit dif. or they would turn into one of those bands where every song sounds the same! I love all of their albums.

IMO U2 is not a great band..... I never really understood all the hype of J.T. cause when i heard the album it just had like 2 good songs on it and thats it...tHE same with there other albums.....Ya VLV doesnt have the emotion that other Coldplay albums have but its way better then anything U2 has done....IMO.

What u2 albums have you been listening to? :dozey:

Yes I am indeed a hardcore U2 fan. Also with that, Im a huge Coldplay fan. Coming off a time where I havent been that front and center with Coldplay and listening again I became critical of Viva.

U2, have produced way better albums then Coldplay.

Coldplay is my all time fav. and U2 or the Killers prolly #2..

but i dont think its fair to compare u2 and Coldplay bc U2 has really been around a lot longer.. and i kno how similar ppl say they are, but really i cant ever imagine Chris trying to sing "Vertigo" or Bono trying to sing "The Scientist" and them be able to pull it off.

I dont think U2 could pull off the ballads and everything that Coldplay has managed to.

with that said i love them both! :D:kiss::kiss::D both amazing bands!

Viva la Vida

Parachutes

AROBTTH

X&Y

In that order.

But those are just implications, of course. As gotcheese2768 said its all down to opinion.

I really never liked U2.... just some songs.... on their last album Atomic bomb something....

Its based on opinion but i gotta admit even though ive said before that i hated the sexy boots song... now its grown on me and me think its good... but not epic...

just an average good song you could listen to just to past time..But its not a good idea to release a song that everyone wouldnt like....generally i think more people hate the song than love it... especially at first listen

Viva la Vida

Parachutes

AROBTTH

X&Y

In that order.

:):).

I'd say:

1. AROBTTH

2. Parachutes

3. X&Y

4. Viva la Vida

wow, I miss those AROBTTH- and Parachutes days :bigcry:

^^ thats pretty bad....... Oh well everyone has their opinion and tastes....
