i bought parachutes,AROBTTH, and X and Y in a matter of 2 days as well...oh and the live '03..then i think i got vlv or it might have been the other way around...

OK OK OK

You actually can decide whether you're a fan or not as soon as you experience their music the first time. I did, and in a big way. But since I only have (and love all of) VLVORDAHF, Prospekt's March and the Live 2003 CD/DVD combo, I'm buying Parachutes, AROBTTH and X&Y today, NOT so YOU will all think I pass the "true fan" test, but because I want the studio recordings of all their CD's and have planned to get them asap. (Some of us have limited budgets LOL)

1) No, it does not make me mad because it's silly to get mad over something like that.

2) There are different levels of fans. You have your hardcore fans who buy everything and anything of Coldplay no matter what (that's me). Then, you have your average fan who likes Coldplay but does not buy everything and anything dealing with Coldplay. Finally, there are the beginner fans who are now just getting acquainted with the band. Some of the beginner fans progress to the other fan levels at a rapid speed while others go much slower or they simply don't progress to the other levels.

3) All that matters is that these "fans" show respect to the band. If they don't show respect then they never were a "fan".

4) What does make me mad is when women say they like band, or any other entity, all because someone is cute. I've encountered that a lot and that irks me to no end. There's nothing wrong in saying someone is cute but to only like a band or a sports team or any other entity just because someone is cute is plain stupid.

i have a friend who's like this but the opposite.

well... she's not really a friend.

she borrowed parachutes from me and says she just likes sparks, but calls herself a coldplay fan. it's so fucking annoying. then i mention other songs and she says "i love that song!" and i'm like, "i thought you didn't like it." and she's all "oh, well, it's growing on me."

i really want to punch her in the face. i also think she might be trying to copy me. :/

wow that is annoying haha

hopefully they actually DO grow on her so that she doesnt have to lie

it doesnt bother me...

although there was one girl(she's only heard viva) who went to the coldplay concert and kept rubbing in my face...

The first Coldplay song I heard was Violet Hill (ok, maybe I heard Clocks a few years ago but didn't know who sang it), last summer. At first I didn't like it. Then, in August, I heard Viva La Vida. From that point Coldplay started growing on me, and I also started to like Violet Hill. Some time has passed, and I heard Lost!, and it became my favorite song (it still is)! The next song was Lovers In Japan (Osaka Sun Mix), and I liked it. For New Year my friend gave me songs from the album Viva La Vida and from Prospekt's March EP. I liked every song! A few weeks ago I heard Clocks, Sparks and Yellow, and liked them as well.

I also want to hear all other songs, and I hope that will happen soon...

Is that enough so I can call myself a Coldplay fan? :)

My dad is one of those fans lol. And while sometimes I'm irritated by it I wouldn't say it ever makes me mad. I've been a fan since parachutes, and I've seen a lot of fans come and go some who were more fanatical than me by far tell me they don't like them anymore. So I guess for me if your enjoying the music thats a good thing no matter how bad your overall taste might be. In the meantime I'm trying to sneak more than the 5 tracks of coldplay my father currently owns onto his ipod.
