Self proclaimed "Super Band" Coldplay, announced that they intend to be the first band to play on the moon today.

Speaking at a press conference, Chris Martin announced the concert, and described it as another "World shattering historic moment in the history of my band".

The band will be blasted into space in late June and will play the concert in a specially built air filled tent on the Moon's surface.

"It was Gwyneth's idea to be honest", described Martin, "I have been spending quite a lot of time at home lately, and she began to just suggest more and more places that I should go to. After about 30 minutes, she said the Moon, and the rest is Coldplay history".

NASA are yet to confirm whether they intend to help the band return to Earth after the concert.
