Coldplay could be gearing up to go their separate ways if frontman Chris Martin's latest comments are anything to go buy.

 

Martin hinted the band - which consists of himself, Jonny Buckland, Guy Berryman and Will Champion - are about to split.

 

During a radio interview he said, "Bands have a shelf life, you know, and we're getting towards the end of the shelf."

 

When asked if he was paving the way for a solo album, Chris - who is married to actress Gwyneth Paltrow - initially replied, "yeah", then quickly added, "absolutely not".

 

This isn't the first time Martin has hinted at a split.

 

In a recent interview with a British tabloid, the the singer said he didn't want the band to end up as wrinkly rockers like The Rolling Stones.

 

"I'm 31 now and I don't think that bands should keep going past 33," he said. "So, we're trying to pack in as much as possible. Up until the end of next year, we'll just go for it in every sense.

 

"I don't believe in time off. We've still got most of our hair, we can still fit into our musical trousers and we've got to make the most of that."

It scares me!, I keep hoping that it's not true because I havn't seen Coldplay live yet and I am not able to this year, I am hoping to go next year, so they better not split!!!!!!!!

^^Me too... it just that since I live in El Salvador there's no many options for me to go to some concert you know, only the States but college doesn't give much time off, so I'm hoping and almost praying for them to come to Mexico, is closer and I might have more chances to go to at least one concert! :)

i think the press is the press and will never stop reporting it, but what i find annoying is all the coldplayers that believe it! don't you guys know the way chris is by now? haven't you seen all the OTHER threads on this topic where we've tried to calm you down? besides, it would be completely illogical for them to call it quits now. not impossible, of course, but really illogical and stupid of them. besides, they still have one more album on the docket for EMI, and i think they're more likely to put out something new than to release a greatest hits. i'm sorry to be blunt, but all the threads and freak outs are just tiring when there is so much evidence against it being truthful in any way.

haha, i'm fine, alison, actually better than usual. i just get really pissed off about this topic for some reason, because people aren't being logical and reasonable, they're just taking what the media feeds them without much question, and that shouldn't be something that anyone does on any subject. it's been confirmed in every which way that they're NOT splitting anytime soon: from rolling stone, from the oracle, from chris himself, and all the evidence is stacked against the possibility of any split in the next...5 years or so. also, coldplay fans should know how chris is by now rather than running around like chickens with their heads cut off every time he says something like this. i think he's playing with the press and trying to be funny, and for some reason it irks me when people are being thick.
