CP loses best album to THAT?!

Featured Replies

I havn't heard In Rainbows and I am not really a fan of Radiohead either and I love Viva La Vida and love Coldplay, naturally I would want Viva La Vida to win.

Viva La Vida is actually the best album I have EVER heard and that is not because I am a Coldplay freak. If I didn't like it, I would say I didn't like it even if I love Coldplay, I admit that Prospekt's March was a bit of a dissapointment, it had some good songs but nothing which blew me away like Viva La Vida (well maybe 'Prospekt's March' the song)

Yeah i thought the same, i really wanted in rainbows to win. They were musically superior in my opinion.

And i know, i haven't really listening to that album and robert's voice isn't the same anymore but i just find it quite weird that people don't know about the legend he is.

I know who they are. Plants voice used to be the best ever. But i havent heared much of the new album, but I kinda knew this album was gonna win. Its just the album the grammys go after.

I wanted Viva to win purly because they wanted to change there stuff. They did. They changed to more colorful songs, jumpy, and dancy. Thats what they intended to do beforehand and for me personally they get it right on the money. 100% the album they wanted to make they did. It appealed to so many. Radiohead, muse Coldplay and other fans and ecen the most people who listen to mainstream. To me Viva has done alot, and I say well done to them. They werent scared to go up-tempo compared to the mid-slower ballads they do. Now its no Ride the Lightning kinda fast bt still. Its quite daring. Now In Rainbows was an amazing album, but I dont think it had the same impact as VLV. Its no OK Computer, but Im glad its not. You'd get very bored of the same records and RH are genius at changing their sound. In Rainbows to me has a distint sound to it. You either Love It Or Hate it. But for me I dont think they pushed themselves like the usually do with previous albums like they did with this. But its really a beautiful album, and is a close 2nd.

Coldplay, Muse, Radiohead aren't mainstream?

You're saying In Rainbows didn't have an impact. Sorry, which album was being mentioned for more than 3 months straight? I think IR has had an impact. If Coldplay reached out of their comfort zone in terms of their style, Radiohead reached out of everyone's comfort zone. I'm not saying they're the only ones who have done that, but they have risked losing A LOT of money because they haven't released the album through a record label. Well, not at first. They could've failed completely. I doubt Coldplay would have done the same, and as far as I am concerned, I don't think they want to reach out that far.

^Yeah, I agree, but how easy is it for Radiohead to change. They've done it numerous of times right? They are the best at it. Now look at Coldplay, everyone say they make the same album again and again and say they cant evolve. And I think Coldplay done really great in changing themselves, which is hard for them. Thats why I would like the grammy people to acknowledge that from Coldplay and why I think the personaly should have won. And because of changing which Coldplay has'nt done many people are striken by it and therefore everyone has had impact on it.

Not that IR did'nt have impact, they gave it for free. I mean I had OK Computer ages ago and thought it was OK, The only reason I bought it was because everyone kept saying it was the best ever. I didnt like it, it sounded crap. And then IR came out and I downloaded it and was blown away and I listened to OK Computer and I think its fabulous.

When I said about mainstream I meant Jonas Bros and all that Disney crap.

I also think that Viva la Vida is the best album I've ever heard. I wouldn't be a Coldplay freak if it weren't for that album (I just liked them before VLV, I wasn't a fan). I acknowledge that it isn't universally everyone's favourite album, but it is mine. And I believe that on a Coldplay forum it is just stupid smartassery to reply "LOLZ" to someone's opinion that a Coldplay album is someone's favourite.

I really thought it would be a toss up between CP and RH who (whom?) i both love. I have a soft place in my heart for Robert Plant and Led Zepplin who changed the world of music (but thta was 30 years ago) and would have loved to see in concert in their heyday. but never in my wildest dreams would i have ever thought the Krauss/Plant album would win. My husband didn't even know they had an album out. the tunes were catchy for all of about 5 min but i do not feel grammy worthy. and this is just my opinion

oooh pleease as good as viva is. in rainbows is another level completely - infact another 3 levels.

Coldplay will make their Ok Computer soon..i can feel it!haha.....But I wanted Coldplay to win!

Joshua Tree only had like 3 good songs IMO so i have no idea how everybody says its great!....

Coldplay i believe will one day make their master piece - but as far as making anything up with the peak of radiohead's powers that isn't going to happen....... why?? because the members of Coldplay simply aren't no where never as good musicians as Radiohead are ........But in a few years I think Coldplay will eclipse U2......

I am not sure about any of the albums that were nominated, not one of them were 'outstanding' in my eyes, sorry Coldplay!!!! And I have never got the Radiohead thing.

oooh pleease as good as viva is. in rainbows is another level completely - infact another 3 levels.

i tell you what we'll meet half way - i'll come down a level and you go up 1.

Yeah, they have changed quite a few of times. I do understand what you want to say (and I'm not really disagreeing with your post), but even though they've done something great for them it doesn't mean they've done something great for the whole music industry. :) And, VLV has won quite a few of grammies this year, so Coldplay (fans) can't complain, can they? :)

In that case about mainstream, you should just say crap. :D j/k

Coldplay should have won the grammy for best album, because it is the best album from 2008.radiohead had also a good album but coldplay was better.
