Sorry if this has been discussed before, as I did a forum search and not much came up, but what are currently your 3 or even 4 personal favorite Coldplay songs so far and please say why (in at least a couple sentences for each song named), as in for the writing, the theme of the song, the song's melody, Chris's vocal work in the song, or a combo of all of these factors, for each mentioned song.

 

If a fave song named is a remix you reckon is better than the original, name it anyway. Yes I know there's a 'What's Your Fave Coldplay song today?' thread, but respondents to it haven't given why reasons.

1) litii.....chris's vocal (every road is a ray of light)

2) prospekt's march.....lyrics (i don't wanna die on my own here tonight)

3) viva la vida.....the definitive song

4) speed of sound.....the song when i "discovered" coldplay

 

BTW, no particular order (and the list tends to change from day to day)

1) talk (my favorite cp song....all around amazing...i especially love the bass....great music video)

2) violet hill (rock out!!!! great bass....favorite cp music video)

3) things i dont understand (once again, all around great...wonderful bass)

4) amsterdam (heartbreaking and beautiful)

gravity is quite wonderful...it should be in mine too...but then i would have 5 haha

1. Fix You - will always be my favorite. Made me fall in love with Coldplay to begin with. It's kinda sad but so uplifting at the same time

2. Glass of Water - because it's awesome, and because I still feel the rush of adrenaline I first got when, to my complete surprise and delight, they started playing it at the Kansas City show. First performance of Glass of Water in North America!

3. Shiver - sound-wise because of the way the two guitars kind of play with eachother. I also kind of relate to the lyrics. I have multiple versions of Shiver but it's the one song I never, never skip when it comes up on shuffle.

Because it was the first non-album non-B-side song I ever 'found' online, and it was like finding buried treasure, and I think that moment and realization of 'there's more out there to find!' sort of sparked my obsession.

1) A Rush of Blood To The Head - I loved it the first time I heard it, and I still do fervently. It's just so haunting :heart:

 

2) Politik - Epic, makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand. Live it's even better!

 

3) Tie-up between Gravity, Shiver and Death and All His Friends - I couldn't choose, please forgive me. Gravity makes me cry, Shiver is just awesome, and DAAHF... the mellow, quiet start and the full band arrangement and the boys singing in unison at the end... just amazing.

Today my four favourites are:

 

Amsterdam

Square One

Swallowed in the Sea

Trouble

 

Amsterdam and Trouble because I've started to play them on Piano

Swallowed in the Sea because I love to sing it, and especially the built up end of it

and Square One because I can jump around to it in its brilliantness

Daylight- because it's beautiful, and will forever be my favorite

 

Death and All His Friends- because i'm obsessed with the groovy bit in the middle

 

Chinese Sleep Chant- I'm not sure why, but I'm really enjoying it at the moment

it changes a lot...

right now i'd have to say...

1) in my place (the lyrics, the music, everything's just perfect)

2) glass of water (something about the music just makes me want to fucking dance!)

3) see you soon (i love the lyrics :) )

1. Clocks - The definitive Coldplay song, being more about the band as a whole than simply Chris. The song itself is beautiful, but a live performance of it is spellbinding.

2. Viva La Vida - Because I'm required to like it, especially since it's the only Coldplay song the rest of my family knows. Seriously, it's lively, upbeat, majestic, and fantastic fun to sing along to with others (especially that *one* part...).

3. Trouble - Note that this #3 slot often rotates between Trouble, Talk, Speed of Sound, and Politik, depending on how I feel. But Trouble is perhaps my favorite of the more melancholy tunes. I even made a video to it for a class.

 

And about the guy-to-girl ratio here, us guys exist to prove that you don't have to find the band sexually attractive and can still think they're totally awesome. :D

2.Shiver - i love this song from the first time I've heard it...there's something about this melody, and the guitars and the drums and Chris's voice..all mixed up together-just perfect!!!!

Talk - the song that got me into Coldplay

42 - the song that really blew me away VLVODAAHF, made me listen it more, and subsequently made me a Coldplay freak

Strawberry Swing - it's so sweet and I love the guitar background

1. Fix You because it was the 1st song that i heard from Coldplay and i luved them after that.
