Im doing an evaluation essay on Coldplay's album VLVODAAHF

 

Can anyone help me how to evaluate an album

 

ive searched the internet and ive found nothing!

 

help help most of us are asleep right now but those who are awake please help THanks!

If you have to evaluate the album, you should do it yourself. Everyone has different perspectives and that wouldn't help you at all

By evaluate you mean write like... a review?

 

I think the best way to observe music, besides listening to it.. is to look at the lyrics. I have a big Coldplay lyric book with all of their songs in it. It might help you to print out the lyrics for all the songs from VLVODAAHF, and make notes on them..

well u could talk about how the album changes a lot..or maybe how it can be viewed as dark but happy at the same time..etc..

Why oh WHY CAN'T YOU DO IT YOURSELF?!

Why don't you start by identifying what you like about the album. Is it the glittery piano melodies? The lyrics? Or is it the actual band itself that makes the album a success (ie if another band put this album out would it be as successful)? Or perhaps it's the group singing?

 

Choose something like that as a topic sentence for each paragraph and then identify why it draws an audience - like the lyrics of Coldplay songs can often been seen as amibiguous but successfully enables a listener to create their own meaning in the songs and hence make the music relate to them on a personal level. Does that help? That's how I would approach it.

I don't understand how someone has to look on the internet on how to evaluate an album.

 

Are we really that lazy nowadays? That we can't use a single brain cell to try and evaluate it ourselves?

Perhaps it is rather an example of the format of a professional media review that she is looking for, not an actual opinion...FGS - think people!! Is it empowering to be so critical??

I figured it out. sorry i just wanted people to let me know how they would evaluate an album. not neccesarily a coldplay album but in general. i'll post it up tomorrow to see what you think of it.

Yeah, I'm not sure that I get this... because review =/= formal essay... But maybe I'm missing something?
