The world of The Apparatjik is a parallel universe to our own. It is set many years in the future and is almost identical to ours with the exception that the plural of the word 'eye' is simply 'eye', rather than 'eyes'.There are several important historical events which have created the Apparatjik world;

genetic research led to the development of the Apparatjik or 'animal people'.

These people were developed in secret as an experiment by the military and were designed to be 'super-soldiers'.

Depending on the animal 'ancestor,' each super-soldier had a particular skill beyond the capability

of any human. Super-soldiers derived from Owl DNA had very powerful eyesight,

Bat DNA produced sonar abilities and so on. Not all experiments were successful and some combinations produced terrifying results.

The Apparatjik we re used in the military for many years before a legislation was passed granting them the same rights as

humans thus allowing them to become publicly known about and gradually introduced to society. Shortly after this legislation was passed the government ordered the

military to shut down the laboratories in which the animal people were created. Apparatjik were few in numbers and humans initially lived in fear of the animal people. Apparatjik with the same animal ancestor can reproduce, although it is very dangerous for a female Apparatjik to fall pregnant by an Apparatjik of different ancestry; this will result in a hybrid with demonic nature and was eventually made illegal. The second historical event was the first visitation of the Earth by an alien race known as 'Ions'. The Ions possessed technology far beyond the dreams of any human scientist. The Ions stayed on the Earth for many years passing on knowledge to the humans. Only a select few human scientists really understood the science behind Ionian technology, and after a number of years bio-mechanical technology developed by the Ions was introduced to humans - this included Bionic limbs, Electric Eye, Everlasting Organs, Brain Boosters and endless others. These creations were designed and manufactured by the Ions at the request of the humans. These bio-mechanical creations were incredibly expensive and only the rich could afford them. Humans realized that the more they replaced of their natural body with Ionian technology, the longer they would live. Immortality became addictive. They were rounded up and killed for their Organs.
