What ideas have you taken from Coldplay?

Featured Replies

What influences has Coldplay had on you? Their style?Their direction in music?Their beliefs?Ive seen some people paint their guitars like the boys have. What do you do that they do.If it had not been for Coldplay what do you think you wouldnt be doing. An example of me is their style.I love the way they dress. They are very casual.During X&Y Chris was wearing a lot of those black jackets. So i went out and got a couple that looked similar.I also bought the same Adidas he was wearing at the time. And I have to say that I dont think I would have bought the shoes and jacket if it wasnt for Coldplay haha.I also bought a Make Trade Fair tee shirt.

So I was wondering if any of you guys have taken ideas or do the exact same things as Coldplay.

hmm I would say that when ever one of them has mentioned that they like a band, I usually go to itunes and check that band out. Like I heard Will mention "Elbow" and went to look them up, and heard Chris talking about "Arcade Fire" almost 3 years ago and that's how I got into them.

I've been introduced to a few new bands because of them too. Elbow was one.

I played piano as a child but gave it up foryears, and probably wouldn't have gone back if not for falling in love with Coldplay. I've written (imo) some of my best songs on piano over the past 4 years, and that means s lot to me.

I wrote a novel for NaNoWriMo last November, and one day I noticed I'd let a couple of song titles and lyrics slip unnoticed into the writing... So I started doing it on purpose. Not in an obvious way, of course, and mostly altered for the 3rd person but if I ever finish the book you'll be able to go through and highlight lots of phrases like "tears streamed down her face," and "...in my place..." and stuff like that. ;)

I agree about the music suggestions, honestly... a lot of the music Chris talks about is also music that my indie-loving friend has, so he's been happy about Chris' influence on my music LOL.

But besides that, I also get ideas for my novel writing...

I've listened to a lot of new bands and music because of Coldplay. R.E.M., The Verve and Take That all come to mind.

Chris' attitude towards life is really inspiring too.

i got a bit more open minded to music like snow patrol, the fray etc.

i went from a hiphop head to a coldplay head who still likes hiphop but at the moment i am more into rock/alternative music.

and i wear a sweatband at my wrist since the first time i heard viva la vida. :D

What was the question again??:laugh3: Oh, what influences has Coldplay had on me?? .. Um, shock, surprise, pride, astonishment, amazement, ...oh wait, those are effects!:P AAHH, a realization that we are not alone in our quest to change the world, and reach the subconscious within the listening world towards global human & environmental issues through a reawakening of our introspective intuitive side (of the mind) within all of us, including myself..

I've married a famous actress.

Pamela Anderson?!?!?! (She's even Canadian.)

Ive learnt how to dance of chris. Im being serious.

Especially when he does that thing with is leg haha.

Yeah, Coldplay has got me to give some other bands a listen, too!

And even though I only took about one year of piano lessons, I LOVE playing Coldplay songs. They take me a really long time learn, but once I get it, it's sooo fun! I also am picking up guitar so I can play some Coldplay.

they influenced my bodyart - i have a viva la vida tattoo...:smug:absolutely love it!

Like most of you, I've discovered some new bands thanks to Coldplay, like Elbow, Arcade Fire, Flaming Lips...

I also pay more attention to Fair Trade now, thanks to Chris.

And they made me start playing the guitar and get my piano playing back on!

Evangaline Lily from LOST.

they've made me play guitar again, and i really freak out when, after writing a song, i realise many of the lyrics are 'life is for living', 'ladder to the sun', 'i went digging' etcetera... i hate it!

Aw, I've had that happen too. Drives me crazy! :grrr: I once recorded all the track for a song for a CD before I realized the electric lead was a direct rip-off from A Message!

But at least they inspire us to write.:)

  • 2 weeks later...

haha because of Coldplay I'm playing the piano again and now have started the guitar!!!!!!!!and also because of Coldplay everytime I read something,I find a way to relate it to Coldplay AND sometimes I start laughing because in sentences I read there are Coldplay song lyrics :) :D I'm kinda happy about that!(ex.'why do we Shiver on a Cold day)AH HEM?:)

Yeah I dance like Chris xD

I love that Viva la Vida Hitting the Invisible Bell thing he does (:

i shag my piano

Hahaha!!!

Well I really got into fair trade and Oxfam.

I'm got a bit more open minded, take the live slow, to met people close for example TracieMorgan I have the same pic like you, I think is -by the moment- the nicest from Chris but if you prefer I change It, by other hand we have more close...the same taste, style. How can you put the movement? My is static, this is the diference, but how do you made it?

Thanks...maria
