Radiohead Are Poor

Featured Replies

what a poor statement. I understand that it's your opinion but to say that thom yorke is inferior i just funny. if that's the case then how come chris martin is known for idolizing him (much like bono)? Also albums sales have nothing to do with how good a band is; only how popular. I mean, let's put it this way, The backstreet boys album millenium sold 40 million albums worldwide this is the 5th best selling album of all time. So by selling so many albums makes them so good? If that's the case then according to you Michael Jackson is the greatest musician of all time.

Honestly I used to like coldplay a lot, and there was a time that they were my 2nd favorite band, but after time I just realized how I feel they've completely sold out just to get sales. I mean I'm sorry to say that I don't think that we'll ever get another album like parachutes or arobtth again. Those were quality albums in which they cared about making music for the sake of making music. now I get the impression they just want to get sales.

look, overall music is up to opinion, so you have your right, and I have my right.

Obviously, Chris Martin is just being modest and humble by idolizing a far more inferior being like Thom Yorke. He's practically Jesus for reaching out to him.

see... this new look with the get-up to me is just embarrassing. I hate to say it because I used to love the band a lot, but the more I see images like this the less respect I have for them

haha.

oh, I know so many people who were pissed off by that magazine cover.

and yet, months earlier, Rollingstone had Thom Yorke on the cover and it said "the future belongs to RADIOHEAD"

I rest my case.

Right? because any sort of legitimacy they gained with the album (which was great) they lost with those stupid fucking costumes.

I think Coldplay has a desire to be huge... While for Radiohead that desire is kind of tamed and focusses more on the music.

That being said, I don't think Coldplay's music has suffered loss from them trying to be huge... But that's why you see the costumes and the promos and what not. I'm not gonna be mad at them for being ambitious. I don't mind the constumes.. I think it's sort of unifying.

With the costumes you'd think Coldplay would come off as more pretentious and elitist or whatever... But even without any attire, Radiohead seems to be less down to earth.

I dunno why this is even a comparison between them though.

Coldplay? =o

my sister loves this band. honestly i just cant take bands like these seriously. i mean why can't musicians just make music and play music without any get-ups.

Eh. I think the costumes are very pretentious. And if you think Radiohead are less down to earth, I would read through DAS, it's very interesting to see them posting blogs and pictures and videos from the road and the studio. Like, wow, these amazing huge celebrity musicians sit down at a computer and blog to the world?

seconded.

Maybe Radiohead don't dress up because they are poor!

eh my drummer loves this band. when he sees this he's gonna start ranting about why MCR beats Coldplay AND Radiohead.

Can't we all put aside our differences and realize that whether you like Radiohead or Coldplay, it's still better than liking My Chemical Romance?

sure. It's not as if I have a huge problem with coldplay, I just hate what they've become, that's all... I just miss the old (parachutes/arobtth) coldplay

I can see why you feel that way. But at least you can admit Coldplay were once good...I think nick_get_on_aim is the only user on here that will defend MCR.

Why moan about it? What can it possibly achieve........

Maybe they shouldn't give stuff away for free.

because it's very frustrating to see a band that you love go into a direction that you don't like

Why moan about it? What can it possibly achieve........

I agree with Rick, this is pointless

*leaves thread*

technically it wasn't free, most of us just decided the album wasn't worth squat! ;)

and while the costumes make-up and get up are pretentious and image-oriented in the case of bands like MCR. With coldplay, they're just having fun playing dress up. Martin's a little boy at heart...

Sure, but they seem to be taking themselves very seriously. Chris defends the uniforms very seriously. And that's what's so ridiculous about it all.
