Radiohead Are Poor

I don't really think he's arrogant. I think he's just introverted and shy most of the time and sometimes people confuse that with arrogance, but even so... he has all the right to be arrogant if he wants, the man is a genius.

No Ren, despite being a genius or whatever, he doesn't need to be arrogant. He can just normally say "Hello, yeah, thank you, bye!".

It's one thing if you have problems with socialisation but it's another thing to jut be arrogant. And he is arrogant sometimes.

Yeah i know you're right but i'm glad he avoids some poeple sometimes cos i'd hate to see radiohead playing a song with jay-z :uhoh:

Chris Martin will never be able to release a solo album.

Radiohead fans are like Africanized bees, and they swarm when you criticize their band ;)

But to be honest... if you're going to criticize a band, do it on the merits of their music. For instance, what are your favorite bands? List your favorite songs by them.

And if you like Radiohead (like Briggins), then I'd be very interested to know your favorite Radiohead songs. I'd bet they're not the same as mine.

People just go through phases, where they like different bands more than others. Recently I've been more into techno, and during high school I loved Radiohead. I recently heard "Fake Plastic Trees" playing on TV and I fell in love with that song again.

I wouldn't be so outraged by someone criticizing Radiohead if they had formed an intelligent argument. That's all I'm sayin'.

A few of my favorite Radiohead songs are:

Paranoid Android, How to Disappear Completely, Nude, There There, Karma Police, Subterranean Homesick Alien..

And mine are: Idioteque, Reckoner, HTDC, SHA, Let Down, There There, LSP, Weird Fishes/Arpeggi, FPT, PA.

As you see, loads of songs.

so many to be put here....

but well yeah I agree with the scientist, it's just a stupid argument, just like all those that bash Chris Martin for being married with Gwyneth

Radiohead create crap sounding music that everyone thinks sounds good, only that they are forced into thinking it sounds good because if you say something against this band then you are deemed "not intelligent".

I don't think it's crap, and according to you, everyone but yourself agrees with me.

I agree with the snobbishness illustrated with some fans, but that's mainly because Radiohead's music is more experimental and less accessible at surface value than say, Coldplay.

I won't be fooled personally. Thom Yorke is inferior to Chris Martin in every single way. The man can't even sing for God's sake!

I respect you for not feeling obligated to change based on public opinion but I must question how much of a radiohead album you've actually listened to. Thom Yorke has a unique voice. On the surface it's can be annoying, and in some cases (like parts of HTTT IMO) it is), but that doesn't mean he isn't talented. His vocal range and accuracy amazingly versatile and exceptional, if you've ever heard Fake Plastic Trees or Nude. He also uses vibrato beautifully, like in "The Tourist". But it's easy to be turned off, because in some songs he intentionally wavers and goes crazy to relate the chaos of the song (paranoid android, 2+2=5 etc.)

Why on earth are they not subject to criticism?? If they were so good they would have sold hundreds of millions of albums now in their 16 year career.

That sir, is just shallow. Popularity doesn't mean squat. Do you seriously suggest that we should judge art by how many other people buy it? That pop radio is exemplary of the highest musical standards in music today?

Some of the most brilliant, influential artists never made it big, not even today. And some of the most insufferable acts in the world take their place.

As it turns out they've only sold 26 million albums in that period. Coldplay have sold 47 million in 8 years. Oasis sold 20 million on one album alone. They've got 50 million in around the same period as Radiohead. Album sales tell a lot for rock bands. The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, U2.... they've all sold them in their hundreds of millions, in The Beatles cases billions. Coldplay's music is much more loved than Radiohead's.

Again, so what!? Neither you or I should give a damn about what music other people love or buy. Music isn't coke or sneakers, it's art. (not that you should care about other people's sodas and shoes either) All that matters are your own ears and mind.

I love There There, Subterranean Homesick Alien, Let Down, How to Disappear Completely, Fake plastic Trees and a shit load more!

"I won't be fooled personally. "

hahahaha

I just noticed this

http://www.spike.com/blog/miley-cyrus-got/74656

According to a recent interview with the Tucson morning radio show Johnjay & Rich, teeny popper Miley Cyrus spilled the beans that she was given the cold shoulder by her mostest favorite band in the entire universe at the Grammy Awards last month.

The band, Radiohead (?!), who was performing at the show, was in a dressing room only four doors down from Ms. Cyrus. Miley had her manager request a little face time with Thom and the gang because they are supposedly the only band in the world she "would cry over."

Radiohead's response? "We don't really do that kind of thing." Yesss!!! When they denied the request she was stunned, stating that she thought they were very “rude” for turning the offer down.

Miley even left the ceremony and missed Radiohead's live performance on the show. She stated: "I left 'cause I was so upset. I wasn't going to watch. Stinkin' Radiohead! I'm gonna ruin them, I'm going to tell everyone."

Good luck with that, Miley.

I'm not sure how accurate that final quote by Miley is, but this is a perfect example of why a lot of people can't stand Radiohead. Look, I'm no fan of Miley Cyrus. But what has she ever done to deserve that kind of treatment? Radiohead are too image-conscious.

And I think interpreting it changes with the person. For me anyway, Radiohead is more relateable to my life whereas some Coldplay songs are more relateable to my thoughts. To each his own I guess

Ya i can relate to Radioheads music more than Coldplays

I think you've got a point there, despite having reasongs for being arrogant they don't have to

Tnspieler1012, why do you have to go and be all eloquent and dignified? Making the rest of us look bad.

Radiohead is a great band, but it’s truly annoying that every time someone voices criticism for the band, the conversation turns into an argument about who is the better artist; Radiohead or Coldplay. How exactly does one quantify talent and artistic integrity?

I don’t think one is better than the other; each band conveys their own expression of music and in turn every listener interprets that expression as they wish.

As a listener you should only be concerned with your own enjoyment of the music, trying to defend your tastes with arguments, such as saying that Thom Yorke is far superior to Chris Martin in every way or that Thom Yorke can’t sing, is pointless because that opinion is completely subjective. If you want to discuss the merits and faults of a band do it without resorting to comparisons with other bands.

Now I know there are a lot of people on here that likes Radiohead, so please respect my opinion. It is only my opinion. I don't like them. Radiohead are far too pretentious for my liking and are so arrogant that they never seem to praise any other band despite the praise they get. Also I'm not fooled like many reviewers into thinking Radiohead are intelligent. Radiohead create crap sounding music that everyone thinks sounds good, only that they are forced into thinking it sounds good because if you say something against this band then you are deemed "not intelligent". I won't be fooled personally. Thom Yorke is inferior to Chris Martin in every single way. The man can't even sing for God's sake! Why on earth are they not subject to criticism?? Listen to the climax in Exit Music.

Thom Yorke lyrically is far better then Chris Martin. Also you can't totally judge a band by the amount of records they sell, considering a lot of Coldplay buyers are high school girls. Radiohead is deep, it takes time to fully understand their poetry. Coldplay is easy to read on the surface.

Radiohead is beyond music. I don't think the entire band is arrogant, just Thom.

Fake Plastic Trees

The Tourist

Paranoid Android

Everything in Its Right Place

Idioteque

A Wolf at the Door

2+2=5

Nude

15 Step

^You cant listen to those and tell me that Radiohead is crap.

howyousawtheworld,

I respect your opinion, but I totally disagree with your statement!

Radiohead are genius musicians just like Coldplay!

I agree with what The Hitcher says!

This world would be a boring place if we liked all the same stuff:)

Also you can't totally judge a band by the amount of records they sell, considering a lot of Coldplay buyers are high school girls. Radiohead is deep, it takes time to fully understand their poetry. Coldplay is easy to read on the surface.

That's not a good argument. A lot of Radiohead buyers may be high school girls, you don't know who buys what music.

I agree that for the most part Radiohead lyrics are much deeper and more poetic than Coldplay lyrics, but that doesn't necessarily make them better. It all depends on what each individual person likes.

Radiohead is beyond music. I don't think the entire band is arrogant, just Thom.

I don't think they can't all be arrogant. And it's not like they're arrogant and bad...they have a right to be arrogant, they are all ridiculous musicians and in one of the best ever bands, it's understandable that they know they're great.
