Jade Goody Dies

Featured Replies

Jade Goody has died at the age of 27, it has been announced.

The reality TV star passed away in her sleep at her home in Essex this morning following a battle with cancer.

Speaking to reporters today, Goody's mother Jackiey Budden confirmed: "Jade died at 3.55am this morning. Family and friends would like privacy at last."

Goody was diagnosed with cervical cancer in August last year. In February, she was told that she could not be cured after the disease spread to her liver, bowel and groin.

The former Big Brother contestant waged a public battle against the illness, speaking regularly to the press about her treatment and symptoms. Though her decision was controversial, the publicity has led to a sharp increase in the number of women coming forward for cancer screening.

Her publicist Max Clifford told Sky News: "I think she's going to be remembered as a young girl who has, and who will, save an awful lot of lives."

Recent newspaper and magazine deals also allowed Goody to secure the future of her young sons Bobby, five, and Freddie, four.

Clifford added: "She was a very, very brave girl. And she faced her death in the way she faced her whole life - full on, with a lot of courage."

Goody first rose to prominence by competing in the third series of Big Brother, which aired in 2002. She was also followed by cameras for her own reality shows and appeared on Celebrity Big Brother in 2007.

RIP :(

It was all very disturbing and wrong for the media to follow someone dying. I know she publicised it but come on. It was wrong.

Cue the West End musical.

On Mother's Day...

RIP Jade. Thought are with her family.

Is the funeral really going to be on TV? Bloody hell.

I've heard it's going to be a state funeral with all the bells and whistles.

Sorry but reading though the pages upon pages upon pages of tributes to someone who is only famous for getting her tits out on Big Brother is getting on my nerves, people die everyday from the type of cancer she had.

I feel sorry for the kids, losing their mum on Mothering Sunday, but can people just let it rest.

RIP :(

I've never liked her but no one should have to go through this. Must be so hard for her kids.

I don't agree with the way the media reported on this but it will at least help to raise awareness. The topic is getting a lot media attention now and hopefully the NHS will realise the national screening age needs to be dropped.

How on earth does it raise awareness?

Were people sitting there going "Durrrr what is Cancer?" Until they saw a bald woman milkig all of the money she could get out of her own death.

no. young women were going "cervical cancer only happens to old women", and weren't going for their tests when they hit 25. the screening rate has risen since Jade started publicising her cancer.

Plus the age was raised to 25 from 21 a few years ago (a few months before I turned 21 in fact) and there's calls for it to be lowered again.

Like it is in Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales.

England always gets a raw deal when it comes to the NHS.

It's scary how young she was.

it's such a sad story.

She was incredibly brave about it.

Cancer is always really sad. I hope she's at peace now.

RIP.

This is true, she raised awareness about the cancer yes, but she's still kinda only famous for her rather public cancer battle and the above mentioned thingo

I just think its sad...mostly because she was 27 and has two little boys who are only 4 and 5.

Your DP is utterly terrifying, even if it is Chris :laugh3:
