chuck kottke
Chuck, you've given me a business idea... a fruit vendor! Fresh fruit salad for everyone, prepared on the spot. I think people would go through a drive-through window for that, just to be able to avoid McDonalds once in a while. Imagine seeing the signs from the road - the choice is clear which one will make you feel better! Yes!! I think that would be an excellent business to be in, Jay! I thought about a summer fruit stand/ strawberry farm here, but the season's short. I for one would definitely go to a place offering fresh fruit salads, juices, and the like as opposed to WhackDonalds anyday!;););) And I'm sure a lot of people would too. I know out in Seattle and Tacoma the cappuccino kiosks do a brisk business.. (but it helps to have a cute girl at the window..:laugh3:)

nothingtoseehere
I heard apples tend to make the eater sleepy? That's what Martha Stewart said anyway, so I've been avoiding eating apples in the morning before classes...
mrs. chris martin
Corn syrup is bad for us. High fructose corn syrup is deadly!:P Better just to use normal cane or beet sugar, methinks is best. I think the bigger issue is the sugar-rush effect - too much, all at once causes whiplash for the pancreas's islet's of langerhans, and the insulin ups and downs, and the metabolic roller-coaster ride. Fine in moderation, or with a meal 1st, but corn syrup is probably the wrong sweetener for humans. Maybe corn syrup is ideal for corn borers, though..:laugh3: But juices have the right kinds of sugar, and not too high levels of them.. plus vitamins.;) Better still is to vend with fruit. you remind me of that commercial where the guy was like "i can't eat that, it has high fructose corn syrup," and the girl was like "so?" he was like, "you know, it's bad for you." so the girls was like. "how? it's made from corn and has the same amount of calories as sugar." it was basically a commercial saying get the facts. i feel you, though. i used to be a major coke/pepsi addicit, drinking about 3-4 cans a day. i could not have a meal w/o it. but i just quit cold turkey a couple years ago & barely drink it. i usually have like less than 1-2 cans a month. i can't chug it the i used to :embarassed:
Black Rose
My school has all diet drinks. I don't have a problem; Diet Coke is where it's at. Diet Coke is worst for you than normal coke, where normal coke is full of sugar, diet-coke has a sugar supplement which isn't good. Coke Zero is where it's all at
chuck kottke
There are some studies where mice who were fed a diet of high-fructose corn syrup had very short lives (compared to the mice fed ordinary sucrose sugar).. I suppose one might argue that we're not mice, but often the mammalian similarities are such that there could be a connection. So, go for the water! Or, maybe the papaya orange mango ginseng spritzer??:P Please look at this for more info. on high fructose corn syrup:The Double Danger of High Fructose Corn Syrup
