Mis Heard Coldplay Lyrics??

Featured Replies

In "I Ran Away," he says:

A star arose in my own cage

I stuck in line

And in a cage

Just a single star

I sing for

Years later, and I still don't hear it, though. To me it sounds like:

A star arose

I'm on a cage

I'm stuck in line

And in a cage

...after that lyric, I don't even know what he says. But it definitely does not sound like "Just a single star, I sing for."

Also, the lyrics say "I had your love on call, and yet my belly is so full." LOL. Say what?! I don't hear that either. I hear, "I had your love on call and yet your (something I can't decipher) is so cold."

"So we rode down to the river where the toiling ghosts spring"

I seemed to hear it as:

"So we rode down to the river where the toy boats spring"

Well before I checked the lyrics :P

And those lyrics you checked may have been wrong. It's actually:

"So we rode down to the river where Victorian ghosts pray"

I knew it! I thought it was Victorian as well, but toiling has come up a few times.

In Yellow I thought he sang "for you I bleed myslef trying" until I learnt it was "for you I bleed myself dry".

This is why it's such a great idea for bands' websites to post official discography lyrics, because oftentimes, these fan-submitted lyric sites like LyricsMode and MetroLyrics are totally wrong, even after several revisions. You don't know how many different lyrics to Violet Hill I've seen on those things, for instance.

I always thought it was "Where the ghosts are on the sea"

crests of waves

i thought it was 'except life and i love you babe'

and then changed my mind to 'except life and the love you bake' (maybe because gwyneth knows how to bake?:P)

when the correct lyrics is actually 'except life and the love you make'

 i LOVE Crest of Waves but i remember the first few times i heard it, forever ago now.....i thought that line was

"nothing matters, except life in the lovely bay"

bc u know he is singing about waves and the sea and stuff i thought it was "bay" :P:P

:embarassed: embarassed cus i absolutely adore that song!!! :wacky:

I've got so many misheard lyrics still in my head, unfortunately nothing comes to my mind right now. But I'm sure I'm very wrong with some songs :) I always say the only bad thing about Coldplay is that there aren't the lyrics printed in the booklet...

They have such beautiful lyrics but as a non-native speaker it's really difficult to understand everything and looking it up in the web is also no alternative for me. They should bring out a songbook with all the lyrics, that would be great.

"From the walls came a beautiful tumbling" :inquisitive:

I just remembered a lyric that I have misheard.

Song: Yes

I had thought the chorus went: "If you're lonely. If you're lonely say yes." :P

Correct lyrics: "If you'd only. If you'd only say yes."

'Now in the morning I sleep alone, sleep on the streets I used to own..' I didn't understand it, because I didn't knew the word 'sweep' . But now I know :)

My version fits in some way :D

I love how its called the disco :P

Anyway I had the worst one once. In a live version of Fix You I could've sworn he said 'and ignite your balls'. Woops, i'm so embarrassed bout that one.

I found a new one today when listening to Clocks that I've never noticed before.

Instead of "shoot an apple off my head" I thought it was "she and I pulled off my head"

Wow..

In Amsterdam I thought he sang "Stood on the edge/tied to the news"

I looked up the lyrics after about a year of listening to it and I was like ohhhhhhhh :]

I don't know if this one has been said before, but in RAiny Day, I thought he sang 'You win, yes, but less than when you begin.' instead of 'You end up with less than where you begin'

My bad. Thanks to Coldplay'.com's disco :dozey:

My sister and I were listening to Parachutes in the car today and We Never Change came on and I was singing along and she goes "OHHH, I always thought he was saying 'Oh and I don't want to sound insane" instead of 'I don't have a soul to save'.

Let's just say this has happened many times with many different CP songs. I sometimes even ask "Are you sure you're a Coldplay fan? You get half of the lyrics wrong, how can you like a band with such shitty lyrics?"

 I mix up lyrics all the time! Thank goodness for coldplay.com's discography, I realized so many mistakes that I'd been making

Amsterdam - "stuck on the edge, fistful of change"

Don't Panic - "bones sinking like stones, all that we fall for"

AROBTTH - "stand here beside me baby, watch the orange grove"

Yes - "I'm just so tired of this lonely mess"

In Fix You I had to look up the lyrics to see that it was "...and ignite your bones" Before that I had no idea what he was singing! And I had the hardest time with the lyrics to Glass of Water, especially "the hollowest of halos is no halo at all"

And to this day I still have no clue what Chris is singing in Chinese Sleep Chant..

Yeah I thought in Fix You he sang

"and ignite your bum" and I would always sing that xD

Amsterdam - "stuck on the edge, fistful of change"

Hey! I'm not the only one!

^ you thought so too? it sounds like it doesnt it!?

Yeah I thought in Fix You he sang

"and ignite your bum" and I would always sing that xD

haha nice one! :laugh3:

warning sign=

cry back into your arms, pudding arms

clocks=

curse me start virginities

clocks=

curse me start virginities

EXACTLY!

in White Shadows i thought it was 'little white shadows, blink in an instant'

it's not that big of a messup but either way, i'm glad for the disco:)

Yeah I thought in Fix You he sang

"and ignite your bum" and I would always sing that xD
