Never been to a concert...To Do's?

Featured Replies

Hey obviously I'm a big Coldplay fan. Have been for 7 years, but this is the first concert I'm going to (Saratoga).

I assume there's a list of to do's for a big Coldplay fan, but if anyone could let me in on some. I'd really appreciate it.

Or just point me in the right direction.

Just one question I have that I assume most will know. Show starts at 7:30, when should i get there?

I just experienced my first Coldplay concert yesterday, Phenomenal!!! I don't know if you want an answer from a more experience Coldplay Concert goer but I am going to give you an answer anyway!!:laugh3:

The time of arrival, depends on you. If you want to see a soundcheck or something. Maybe like 3 or 4? If you want to be the first in line to get in, I would say around 5:15 or 5:30.

Things to do (on the top of my head):

1)Meet Coldplay-this is a very rare experience but you never know because the opportunity might come if you are lucky!

2)Get Coldplay merchandise (at least a shirt)

3)Meet other Coldplayers (unfortunatley I didn't :()

4) Collect as many Butterfly Confetti as you can

5)Try to get a setlist

6) Have a good time

That is my response but there are many more things, hopefully a more worthy and more experience Coldplayer will give you a better answer.

wear comfortable clothes

1. Check the weather. If rain predicted get one of those cheap poncho thingies to bring with you.

2. Band usually sound checks at 4pm. If it is an outdoor venue, you will be able to listen while in line.

3.Camera. As long as it's not a professional camera they will let it in. I usually bring an extra set of batteries and around 8GB of memory cards.

4. Some kind of bag for butterflies if you are going to be near the front.

5. Howling Bells is really good so I would try to get there before start time to see them. Gates usually open 1 hour before show time.

6. If you want something from the merc stand, bring cash and buy before the show. After, they might not have what you want and you may miss the free CD if you hang around to shop.

7. Remember a concert is what you make it. If your section is lame, forget about those losers! Dance and sing and have the time of your life. Don't worry about what the people around you are doing and just enjoy yourself.

8. Now this is the most important thing so listen up! If your camera that can shoot video, record In My Place. KEEP THE CAMERA ON JONNY! I know Chris will be all running around trying to get your attention but stay on Jonny! Chris will eventually come to him and then the love will happen. And keep filming until the song is completely over and the stage is totally dark because sometimes there is Jonny Chrissy touching after the song. Then upload that video to youtube and post it here.

:D

:Dyep- ^^^what she said.

@ Angie-

OMFG ! Iseriously just pissed my chair LOL at this.

In all seriousness, Angie's #7 is really important. Sometimes you can even be the one to get your part of the crowd going, but if you can't, don't let them get you unenthusiastic. Last time, I was between a couple who wouldn't stop making out instead of watching the band and an overprotective dull-faced family (and in decent seats!), but I sure didn't let that stop me from having a good time.

Ha ha ha, LOVE this. I'll have to remember this for my shows in July.

well my face was fully aware of what angie was up to. ive been around this thread for about a year...so i know the schtick. :laugh3:

that being said ill have to decline taking part in that.

anyways thanks for the help though. i really thought id get bitched out and told to check another thread. thanks for not doing that. :)

i will definitely keep all these things in mind. for merchandise and the cd what should i do in more detail. im going to be not too far away from the band, so idk where that will put these things.

either way. im SOOOOOO pumped to be going to my first concert. this will be SO great.

also someone said the concert was 90 min? is that even possible?

When I saw Coldplay in Chicago I bought some Chicago deep dish pizza slices. I only managed to obliterate one before the concert began, so I put the other piece in my backpack that I had with me (also useful for carrying Camera, butterflies, etc.) I took this pizza back home (To indianapolis) and kept it in the refrigerator until Coldplay announced that they were stopping in Indianapolis on their tour, and then I threw it out.

So....

Get edibles from venue for good luck in future Coldplay Shows.

that being said ill have to decline taking part in that.

See if I try and help you again.

Thank you for the advices, I've been to a few concerts but you can learn something out of it nevertheless ;) I would like to have the butterfly confetti, take a few photos, buy the tour programme, of course get the live cd and have a lot of fun! That's what I promised myself! :D

To Point 8: I just had to laugh about it

To Point 7: Sadly it's an phenomenen that most of the people at a concert are not real fans of the band, they just come to get entertained so they seem to fall asleep. At my last two concerts (not CP) I just sang along real loud to my favourite songs, danced and screamed a few times. People around looked at me like I was crazy and some idiots even had to comment my behaviour. I hate these folks, please stay at home and watch a dvd, that's cheaper for you slowpokes :P

Now I'm worried that I will be in the same situation again because I have a seat rather in the back of the arena :\

5. Howling Bells is really good so I would try to get there before start time to see them. Gates usually open 1 hour before show time.

I agree with this! Howling Bells are awesome so arrive early so you don't miss them and miss out on a good show! :)

You got to do #8 man! I love IN MY PLACE! I don't know what it is but I just I just I go crazy.

*sighs.. reminiscing*

There's a couple of tee-shirts, mugs, bracelets, posters (I think), hoodies, I think there's a bag too, uhhh I don't remember what else they sell.. oh the little booklet too  Bring cash for it ;)

Various tee shirts for $35 - $40.

Tote bag $25.

Keychain $10.

Cool poster (small) $10.

Tour program $20.

Sticker sheet, set of buttons $8.

Hoodies $65.

Blanket $35.

Also hats, mugs... can't remember how much they were selling for

Oh.. I my going to my first (coldplay) concert in August.. I'm so nervous..

Can I ask some questions here?

1# Can I bring a bag? (like for importent things, butterflies and things like that)

2# Will it be weird if I go with my dad? I have standing tickets so well.. will it be awkward?

3# I have standing tickets. It starts at 19.00 PM.. When should I be there?

4# Is the merchandise expensive? (I don't now how much $ is wearth)

Right now I'm more nervous then happy... but still so happy!!

When I saw them in Liverpool at Christmas, Jonny walked down the runway during his solo, huge grin on his face, then Chris launched himself in the air to catch up with him and realised mid-air" that he'd jumped a bit enthusiastically. For the briefest moment there was a look of panic in his eyes - he thought he was going to send Jonny flying :laugh3: Somehow he managed to pull himself back in time...

1# Can I bring a bag? (like for importent things, butterflies and things like that)

Take a plastic zip lock bag to put the butterflies in... I collected a handful then just had to shove them in my handbag where they got all crushed

7. Remember a concert is what you make it. If your section is lame, forget about those losers! Dance and sing and have the time of your life. Don't worry about what the people around you are doing and just enjoy yourself.

This is the most important point! Fuck off the others. Do what you think and feel at this moment and nothing else ;)

Thanks for all the tips. I am going to my first Coldplay concert and all the info that is being provided here is very helpful. Thanks!! :)
