When you first heard Coldplay

Featured Replies

What song got you hooked on and loving Coldplay?? Tell all about it!

Truly, I had never heard of Coldplay before I saw the video for Speed of Sound.

I listened to "In My Place" like 6 years ago and didn't really fall for them back then, but 2 years ago I listened to it again, and I really liked it, then I listened to "Talk"(unreleased) and fell really hard.

The very first video I saw was "Speed Of Sound" and I am so in love with both the video and song, that's my favorite video by them. They "showed up" in my life in the right time, thanks to them a lot of things have been easier to deal with.

the first song i heard of them was yellow but i didnt know it was them

then i heard clocks and my whole life changed-but i still didnt know this bands name

then i saw the video for the scientist and finally wrote down the name of this band and figured out they played those previous songs i loved

to confuse me even more when i bought AROBTTH and i heard in my place i had apparently known the song from before since i knew the words to the song

so i actually dont really know which song got me hooked on and loving coldplay

I'm sad to admit this, but... Viva la Vida.

I had probably heard them before. I probably didn't like them.

With ceolsige on this one... Pffft, I'm a recent convert :b I think I first heard them on the radio when I was in middle school and just thought of Coldplay as "yeah, that popular band," but it wasn't till I'd heard Viva la Vida for like, the fifth time when I fell totally in love with it. Then I re-listened to their other stuff and found out what I'd been missing!

I actually just got the tour pack yesterday so I haven't listened to the albums enough to pick a favorite... but I really like AROBTTH and VLVODAAHF.

Fix You on January 2006.

Probably Speed of Sound was the first Coldplay song I heard on the radio, but then along came Fix You :) I listened to it before being released, at the end of August 2005, and for some reason it didn't seem to blow me away (quite weird since it's definetely my favourite song :D). Then I read some things about them and I gave Fix You another go and.... well... I think I'm in love with them now :D

4 years of Coldplay... I can't belive it!

but my awful local radio station never seemed to tell you who the songs were by.

i know! i would be waiting to hear who played yellow and ...nothing!

i would have my ear to the speaker waiting for the station to say the name of the band. i would listen to the radio mostly in the car i was 10 back then so this is the only times i would listen to the radio. in the car it would usually be very noisy cuz my parents would be talking, so thats the reason why i had to put my ear to the speaker. on very rare occasions the radio station would say the name of the band but i would miss it cuz of the noise in the car or the drive would be over.:(

stupid radio station it was their fault i didnt figure out who coldplay was until i was 12 and saw the video for the scientist.

I will never forget I was 15 when Yellow came out and I was into boy bands then (don't judge) and I remember thinking that Coldplay was just one person because Chris was the only one in the video. I think I thought the song was okay, but that was it. I really got into Coldplay when I heard The Scientist. I have been all about them since and that song to this day is still my favorite song by any band.

I'll always remember the first time I heard the band...

It was in 2000, I had just entered College. I was listening to the radio in my bedroom when 'Trouble' came out of nowhere....I just froze and got goosebumps while listening to it. This piano, this voice...such melancholy and honesty at the same time, I was hooked! Then the DJ said:' this a 'Trouble' by Coldplay, a new band from england who starts to get attention...'. A few days later, I bought Trouble's single (I never buy singles, and I think Trouble is the last of the few I bought...). I bought it cause I didn't know if I would like the album and I remember thinking while buying it: 'well, maybe the album is shit and maybe this band will not last but at least I'll have this song '...XD But this is what starts the addiction!!

When AROBTH came out 2 years later, I bought it right away even though I hadn't listen to it yet! *blinded faith in the boys* I hadn't internet at the time, so it was a little surprise to see the band back with a new album! I was so happy even if everybody around was like 'Coldplay...?? Never heard of them...' :/

So even if they became this huge band through the years, to me Coldplay will allways be this band of goofy students, who didn't know how to pose in front of a camera...XD!

I think i fell in love with Coldplay when i first heard Speed Of Sound, but i remember that i had already heard songs like In My Place and Yellow but i didnt know the artist..

btw, i became a Coldplay fan thanks to my sister:P i remember in 2005 when X&Y was published, and she said "that's the new Coldplay album!!" my reply "...who?!?!"

hahahaha:laugh4::laugh4:

it sounds like another life:shy::lol:

Hm...I think it was about four years ago, when I heard Speed of sound and absolutely fell in love with it. :D Then I couldn't stop listening Clocks and Talk and decided to buy all their albums. Then Viva came out and I realized that Coldplay will be my favourite band all the time. :P

clocks rocks

and i'm glad it was this one

Oh i can`t forget it. i first heard the song Yellow. i remember that i loved it so much that i wanted to hear more coldplay songs and then i just fell in love with them.

the first song i listened was yellow but i didn't know coldplay was its band... and now i love the song and the band...

Look at the stars,

Look how they shine for you,

And everything that you do...:sunny:

At first it was yellow, and I was thinking "oh, they're good",

then shiver came and I wasn't impressed,

then i heard trouble and I hate the video because it looks depressing (the tied in the chair one),

then don't panic which didn't give me much impression for lack of airplay,

then in my place, I hated it, and I wonder why they got so much praise for it,

then i saw the scientist video and I'm caught with the vid and the song,

then clocks which, like don't panic, lacks airplay,

god put a smile never came here,

then speed of sound, good, good song and video, and I was thinking "3rd album already?"

then came fix you, one of their worst song, in my opinion. I hated it.

then talk and the hardest part, it didn't get much airplay too,

then i heard violet hill and whoa! new sound!

then i heard viva la vida and whoa!! even newer!!!

then i d/l LRLRL, and heard death will never conquer, and was amazed that will champion sang the song (I didn't know who will champion was). I googled the band for more info, and get all their albums. It turned all my interest towards them. from like to really, really like.

I know I was supposed to post just the first song, but I feel like writing a diary.

I remember seeing the "Speed of Sound" and "Fix You" videos on mtv when I was too young to listen to anything good, but the song that got me hooked was "Lovers In Japan". I bought it off of iTunes when I was just looking for some new music and it's been love ever since.

I actually heard Coldplay for the first time six years ago, meaning I was 6. :P

I got a CD a nice girl made and gave me as a birthday gift. On the Cd was Yellow by Coldplay. It was my favorite song on there and what I would do is put Yellow on repeat and leave my radio on all night (I can't believe I still do that..). Anyhow, I lost the CD 3 years ago and forgot who the song was by.

Last year, on my birthday, I heard Viva la Vida on the radio and discovered it was by Coldplay. I searched it on youtube and found the music video for it and thought; "Wow, the lead singer is insanely hot."

So I continued to search through their songs and I finally found Yellow again! And then I got addicted...

For me it was Viva and Clocks :P

Well, I've always really liked them a lot and appreciated them, I knew the songs like Clocks and Speed of Sound... Although I never heard Yellow until I first started my obsession.

It all started when there new CD came out (VLV) and I already like Violet Hill and Viva la Vida so I checked out Lost! And that was the song that got me hooked....

Also, my brother used to be a fan so like that's why I've always liked them too. But, like I said, I never really like... dove in until Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends album

even though i'd been hearing their other songs played, it was the scientist that grabbed me. i was severely depressed and trying not to let it take over my life and interrupt my parental duties. that song was an anchor.

I first heard Clocks on the radio, but I was young, so I didn't know who it was by. Years later, I'm on the Internet, and there's this girl raving about this song called "Viva la Vida", but I thought that I would be just another bullshit radio song. So, I didn't look it up. Months later, I can take it no longer. I needed to find out about that Viva la Vida song! So, I looked it up and I loved it! I found out it was by Coldplay. The name seemed familiar. My dad always raved about Clocks and Trouble, so I guess that's where I heard it. I got more and more interested, and soon I became obsessed! Oh, and in the beginning, I thought Chris was very weird-looking and somewhat ugly. During the VLV video, I was like, "this guy dancing looks so weird! And what's up with his eyes!?". But as I learned more about Coldplay, I began to love Chris. Viva la Coldplay or Chris Martin and All His Friends! XD

What song got you hooked on and loving Coldplay?? Tell all about it!

i listened Yellow randomly but didn't knew which band played it so...

later on i heard them again (don't even remember the song, but surely was Don't Panic), and so i knew the band name and i checked their stuff on my own.

i could say i really liked them after i listened to Trouble, so then i decided to buy their albums (back then (late 2002) they only had AROBTTH, and Parachutes was hard to find at shops), and join the board looking for information and more fans to exchange impressions.

i think i liked them most because i found Chris voice so similar to Sting, and so it reminded me to The Police (which i could say where the first band i got into, even when i did so they were disabled since a decade ago :uhoh: )
